All kidding aside, it is really dangerous in Bangkok...you have military and civilians with weapons and innocent farangs are getting shot at for no reason...this really sucks and the King should step in...

Meanwhile, just got back from the golf course at Treasure Hill...Fig, you have played there...birdied three holes today and drove a whole lot better today...

The thing is, is that everyone is talking about the stuff going on in Bangkok, but nobody else is worried about it except those people in the city....there is no fighting in the rural areas or anywhere else in Thailand...

You would think the price of the girls would go down in troubled times but it doesn´t. I have been through several hard times in Thailand, a major recession, the SARS epidemic, tsunami, etc.

The girls have an informal agreement, almost like a union, NOT to have fire sale prices. While of course not all ask for the same price, you won´t see the deep discounts like in the US housing market. Some may in fact raise their price because they have less clients!

In any event, as VD says, life goes on as normal in Pattaya.

That is true. They figure that with rough times and fewer customers
they need them to pay just as much or even more to compensate
for the lack of business. After all the family still needs to eat and
pay for their sick water buffalo's medical bills.

OTOH you have a better chance of getting an appointment with a hot
young busty spinner massagist or any other lady of your preference.
And the odds increase that she'll give a higher quality of service than
may be her customary practice in a peaceful political climate.

Just took a motorbike through the heart of the city. That was crazy, what are usually the busiest noisiest streets you've ever seen are totally deserted, you could hear a pin drop. Troops with rifles posted everywhere.

truth is, for me at least, these girls could double their prices, and I'd say thanks, may I have another!

Many posters are correct to point out that personal experience has a way of influencing our impressions and perceptions often become what we believe to be reality, but, alas, we met so many sweet, down-to-earth girls, I'm sticking to my believe system!

Viejo, you will not see tanks in Pattaya, they will shoot water guns at them if they do! lol

Just got an email from my girl in northern thailand and she says it is completely calm. Viejo says Pattaya is calm so I'd say its OK to go through the airport as it is quite a long way from the city.

Take my words with a grain and Viejo should weigh in. I'd be willing to change my plans as things develop there. That said, since things seem to be escalating, you may want to elect to wait a bit until all this passes before you book a trip. If I had the trip booked, personally, I'd still go. If I hadn't booked it, I'd wait. Just my opinion, obviously.

I have lived in bangkok fot the past 7 years. I would say if you are flying in and going to pataya or phuket i wouldn't worry at all at this point. I live about 30 minutes from downtown and it is like nothing is happening-

When they ahd the last coup i had to explain to my neighbors why the only thing on Thai tv was a picture of the king and thai music. They thought their cable had went down. they had no clue what was going on.

My opinion is any foreigner that goes down to the area where the protests are going on deserves to be shot!!!

Saw a couple of changs on the highway to golf today...(elephants)

The government set aside tomorrow and the next day as holidays...things should be resolved in the next couple days...

Both sides are getting tired of all this shit; especially when lives are being lost...
