Always enjoyed the Olympics...up unti Munich...politics and hometown judging has dampened the excitement of the events...I will still watch whenever I can...

Men's 400 meter dash should be great. LaShawn Merritt v. Jeremy Wariner. 400 meter relay is also great to watch.

I will be glued to NBC olympic coverage. Say your 1980's rant about 'em being pro, but these are the best athletes/teams/competitors in the world. You can sleep on it but it is The Show across all sports. Forget Tapout, you want to see the strongest quickest dudes on the planet, tune to olympic boxing, wrestling and weightlifting. Another reason to catch these games are the view of China, its cities and technology. China blows my mind terms of their rise to supremacy as the world's dynamo economic engine that spins awesome architecture and industrial expansion that is unbelievable. Don't sleep on the games and if nothing else, follow US best into track, basketball, and swimming events.
Very well said. I'm going to try and watch as much as I can. I watched some of the swimming prelims on universalHD today. Always nice to see someone get a WR.

I use to love them as a kid.

Watching the track and field events can be fun but nowadays with so much exposure it isnt as exciting to me.

I sort of like the human interest stories that the networks put on right before an event. Gets you in the mood for the event but overall not really into the Olymipcs.

Couldn't have said it better myself. That's exactly how I feel about them. :toast:

With internet coverage and a 12 hour time differential between Beijing and East Coast United States, NBC's ratings should be interesting. I hate watching tape delays, especially when the results are just a few clicks away. Viewing the new China will be interesting for a few days, but the the novelty will subside after that.

From a U.S. boxing fan's viewpoint, there is nothing more frustrating than watching the Olympic version of this sport. Our teams just don't compete well with Cuba, Russia or Kazakhstan in this "style" and I never understand why one punch gets scored and another one doesn't.
