There was really nothing to work. It is sad when in this modern day we commend common sense.... if you have the ball and can run out the clock, then run out the clock.
And all of a sudden he's a genius? Lol.
I like Herm's personality and a lot of things about him, but don't think they'll be winners long-term. And he'll be gone in a few years.
But in the end you have to him credit for doing the simple and right thing. It's so basic, but how many times did we see rocket scientist LSU coach do some left-field shit in the same situation for no explicable reason... and then we could see chunks of his brain fall out of his ear when he leaned his head to the side.
I have to admit, I was wrong...very wrong....I started thinking this could work after meeting the Defensive Coaches on Signing Day last year...Those dudes are SHARP!! I am on the train now..

Here is what ASU coach Herm Edwards and Sun Devils players said after the win.
HERM EDWARDS
On the mindset going into tonight’s game...
“I thought they took the approach that it was going to be a heavy-weight fight. I said ‘We have to be the physical group, and we’re going to have to play these guys for four quarters. If we play tough and keep the mindset that we can’t let them get out to an early lead, we’ll have a chance.’ Obviously, at the end they came surging back pretty back fast. When you think you have a lead and all of a sudden there are a couple of big plays in the passing game and they’re knocking on our door again.”
"And I kept telling them, I said, ‘Hey, when you get tired of losing, when you finally get tired of losing, you’ll figure this thing out.’ And tonight was the night. They got tired of losing. Good for them, because I got tired of watching it myself." ~ Herm Edwards (11.23.19)
