haven't seen that in the usa. yes aldi rent carts but you get the $ back when you return it after shopping
in iceland every store charges for a bag usually 40 isk which is like $.03/bag
I think Aldi sucks, so I assumed Lidl would suck when I went for the first time. Boy was I wrong, love that place! What do you refuse to buy from there?I've never paid for a cart at Aldi, it appears almost all shoppers just hand them to the next person coming in as they're going out. It's a pretty silly concept imo, honestly. Lidl has the same buggies with the slots for the qtr etc, but they don't use them. They also have a slot that looks like it would accept a credit card or the likes.
RFID your entire buggy, slip in your payment, and go. Now that would be cool...
I didn't think I'd like it, but Lidl is my go to now. A lot of the stuff I don't see how they sell it that cheap (I know how, just saying), but I still refuse to buy certain things from there still...

fully agree with you. Figured the food would be subpar such as Aldi does imo.....the food has been great. The ONLY thing we have not been happy with are the regular potato chips as they remind me of Clancy's at Aldi, but their Kettle chips are the bomb for like $1.19 a bag! Everything else has been fantastic...even the generic energy drinks taste like RB and are .79 and sometimes BOGO. We have pretty muche been able to do all our shopping at Costco/Lidl now!I think Aldi sucks too. Haven't been in years now, and probably won't... Lidl is the shit!!! Milk today, $1.09 a gallon, it's $3.49 at Wal-Mart. Eggs, .59 a dozen, or 3 dozen for $1.42, they're $1.29 a dozen at Wal-Mart. Their branded stuff is sometimes 3-4x cheaper than the National brand stuff and just as good. I have an infant, and their diapers are over half the price of Pampers and better.
Funny you ask what I refuse to buy, I'm pretty sure it was prepackaged meat, well guess what, not anymore, their steaks etc are damn good!! It actually allows me to wet age it in the fridge for a few weeks before eating too...
Overall, I can/do most of my shopping there now, and I know I'm saving lots, it's great...
