Wow....so over 500+ posts and two years later, tens of thousands of American same-gender couples have been legally married and somehow the Republic still stands strong and not one poster in this thread could cite an honest example of how their personal lives or personal marriages have been directly adversely impacted by these millions of legal marriages.

An estimated four same-gender couples were legally married in the time it took you to read this post

God Bless America

Likely the most hysterically absurd references made in previous 22 pages - as is the case in so many discussions of various social behaviors would be those which entreaty we "look at what the Founders of our country intended".

Not sure about you guys but I live major portions of my personal business and social life in direct contrast to the preferences of my own parents, most certainly of my grandparents.

I'm frankly giving literally Zero weight to the purported attitudes of people who lived 250 years ago. And with even increased apathy do I view the opinions of those who lived over 2000 years ago.

Your own guidance might be different. Just don't be unduly distracted by those of us who choose to follow our personal internal guidance rather than that of anyone else outside ourselves.

Bullshit. Bestiality doesn't (necessarily) hurt animals, one could argue that they probably enjoy it.

Besides, we FUCKING EAT ANIMALS.

"Two gay men/women being married harms no one" ----> Complete horse shit.

Plenty of adults that wish they could legally bang animals. Who are you to tell them no?

http://www.alan.com/2013/08/25/bioe...-prostitution-polygamy-incest-and-bestiality/

I didn't. Mike said that whatever makes people happy, they should be able to do, so I'm saying using that argument, bestiality should be legalized, and
actually encouraged by society.

I think the argument would be that gays are consenting to fuck each other, whereas the animal we have no idea what they want. Minors and kids can't consent so pedophilia is out. Polygamy, yeah that should probably be legal, why not?

Then why not incest as well, as long as the family members are adults?

I think that is where the subjectivity comes in. Most people don't have a problem with 1.5% of the population marrying one another because they just don't see this as rocking the institution of marriage or health issues from gay marriage being very impactful.

Something like incest or transsexualism are far more unhealthy activities to most of us.

Sure the MSM #'s are bad but a lot of that is a function of promiscuity, whereas incest or trans has far worse outcomes per capita.

Incest causes birth defects, genital mutilation has its own issues.

You can call that moral relativism but I just don't see gays or lesbians being with one another as that detrimental to society.

So in short, I think incest is fucked and would greatly harm society if normalized. Two guys or girls fucking or raising a kid from the 3rd world that no one else wants, not so much.

Anything beyond that logic would probably be going more towards a cultural critique of morality that I just haven't given a ton of thought to.

I will concede as someone that has always been pro gay marriage as a human rights issue, I didn't think the issue would move this fast into other areas, I just saw it as more of a live and let live issue. Stuff like facebook having 45 genders to choose from or something like my friend being a therapist and he has teenagers telling him they're unsure of what their sexual orientation is now because of nothing more than how their life is going (in normal times we called that "Not getting laid") or gays being all over the TV or Caitlyn Jenner being on the Bill Simmons podcast (dude went from "Grading The Wimbledon Babes" to Caitlyn Jenner in 15 years, wow), all of that has moved at warp speed.

So if gay marriage leads to a "slippery slope" and some of these trends continue to accelerate then you may have a point. But on balance, the specific issue of gay marriage and how it relates to America right now, I can't say it bothers me when just isolating it to that 1 issue.

That's pretty scary if you ask me.

If you want to actually read the truth about what it is like to grow up with gay parents, instead of reading the pablum that the gaystream media feeds you.

You can also read how the militant gay lobby tries to destroy anyone who speaks up and tells the truth.

That is 1 POV but I'm sure many kids from the 3rd world, a mom on meth or a dad on oxycondone would much rather have 2 gay parents.

A reason that many people are OK with gay marriage or accepting the behavior is because in their own lives they know gay people and they are perfectly well adjusted and productive members of society.

If people knew regular folks that were into fucking dogs or their mother then maybe that behavior would become culturally accepted as well, but that seems pretty far fetched at this point.
