Are the Steelers and Mike Tomlin on the way out?

Has the league dramatically changed in the last 7 years that much, though?

Also, that was the Steelers identity for .... 1,000 years? IMO, you can win long-term on defense, but sustaining a long-term winning tradition via offense is much harder.

Either way, if Steelers lose vs. NE, then it should be pound-city vs. the 49ers.

(Another brilliant owner move... I think I'll fire one of the best coaches in the league who brought big-time winning again to SF.... and replace him with... with who? This owner may be looking to surpass the Redskins' owner)

Dick LeBeau, of course, is now gone.

This is part of a process called "disintegration and crumble". And we'll get to watch live right on our televisions!

Good thing Tomlin has Big Ben or his teams would never finish better than 7-9.

28-21 Pats win.

I have no idea why the world was so high on the Steelers. Made absolutely no sense. Belichick + Brady at home vs. a Steelers team with absolutely no defense? Magic formula? Think not.

Good news is 49ers should be absolutely atrocious. Maybe their management will try to rival the Redskins and run the ship into the bottom of the ocean.

Don't know what the line will be at home vs. SF, but with Pitt's ability to score.... a 2-TD win could be the same as a 6-pt win.

Pats played a perfect game. Steelers made mistakes and didn't get a break to go their way at all. Not sure how much Brady opened the playbook, but it didn't look like these two teams were that far apart.

Have to disagree with you here Albatross......Patriots got gashed on defense.

Pretty sure the world was on the Pats, or at least that's what I read. Also, let's not pretend NE played any defense at all, either. They gave up 7 yards per play. NE looked like the better team but not by a whole hell of a lot. The difference in the game was NE's ability to get TDs once they got inside the Steelers 30 whereas the Steelers settled for FG attempts.

I searched the web far and wide for input on this game. The fashionable pick was Steelers ML or plus the points. But maybe it was just gamblers posting while the general public poured into the Pats. Maybe that was the case.

One has to hope that SF beats Minnesota. I am under the impression that SF will be absolutely horrendous this year. But if they can beat Minnesota, it bodes well for a great play of Pitt > SF.

If SF doesn't win vs. Minny, this looks like 0-6 to me .... and likely 1-5 ATS. I don't know how they'd win any games in Wk 2-6.

Thats true, but Pitt has one of the best Offenses in the game. I think the Pitt d got gashed more. The New England Offense looks unstoppable with all the short passes and mismatches. I probably should have said that Pitt didn't catch any breaks. I disagree that Pitt won't win many games. They looked pretty even.....they just made a lot of mistakes.

First game tho. A lot can change in the next 17 weeks.

How does a Coaching Staff even manage to mismanage Time, The Clock, to the degree that Pittsburgh did vs. Patriots?

Particularly at this level, Professional Football. I can understand a Les Miles (LSU) Coaching Staff bungling Clock Management to this degree because thats what they do but I can't understand how Steelers & a Tomlin Coaching Staff accomplish this. Everyone in the stadium knew to stop the clock on those occasions except, apparently, The Steelers. The only people in the Stadium who needed to call timeouts. Football 101. Basic Stuff.

After what I saw today in the news with all the accusations of radio interference I don't buy one cent of it. Tomlin being a sore loser and I think his easy way out was to blame the Pats cheating. Pretty pathetic coming out the gate first game of the season. Will be interesting to hear his other excuses when he loses more games. Let me guess...Patriots are fixing those games as well.

Strap on a pair and pull up your girly panties Tomlin. Pathetic.

That was a perfect situational wager. SF beat Minny at home and so you got a lowered line for Pitt to clobber SF at home. Then SF likely loses to Zona and GB.

And the media will jump on Tomlin's dick after this win, but this is the NFL; jump on bandwagon one week, jump off the next.

Rams got their butts kicked last week... so Pitt is the fashionable pick this week. But sometimes STL at home becomes world beaters and they've knocked off SEA and DEN (among others)... must-win game here b/c got BAL in prime-time up next

Going for it twice in OT on 4th down .. He deserves the blame tonight.

At the 41 was bad. Just punt there.

At the 32 or so is close. Scobee had been ice cold and has sucked all year. Understand thinking you need to get a little closer there.

Bell not touching the ball on either 1 is probably gonna be tough for Pitt backers to stomach.

On the first 4th down attempt in ot bell got blown up into line. Not sure if he was going to run a quick slant or be a pitch target but he was meant to be vick's option on that play.

I have no problem with coaches going for it on 4th. When it works, they are called geniuses. Tonight nothing went right for Pitt down stretch and they should've gone for it on 4th in regulation. There would not have been an o.t. to discuss had they done so.

Pitt should utilize Vick and the 2 rb's on field together a lot unti Ben gets back.

4-2 doing a fine job...

Quarterback Landry Jones, playing for the first time in his three seasons with the Steelers, replaced an injured Mike Vick in the third quarter. He then threw two touchdown passes to Martavis Bryant, playing in his first game this season, and led them on a third field goal try as they defeated the Arizona Cardinals 25-13 at Heinz Field.
