Roxygurl- You know what it is, right? NAFTA. The North American Free Trade Agreement. What it does is open up the borders between all the countries in an effort to help our economy. Since NAFTA has been passed a little over 200 American companies have relocated to Mexico mainly because you have less workers' wages to pay, little fear of unions, and very few environment protection laws to adhere to. We can't stop NAFTA, but the problem will be a lot worse if CAFTA (Central American Free Trade Association) is passed. The countries of Central America, the Dominican Republic, and the U.S. agreed to the principles of this deal last August and soon it will go before Congress for a vote on whether to implement it or not. This would trigger millions of people from poor, oppressed countries to move into the U.S. looking for work and businessmen would more than oblige since these immigrants would be thrilled to work for minimum wage.
