Yes they are overrated. Need ankther solid starter. Hammel will revert to his old self and the bullpen is in shambles.

I would be shocked if Theo doesn't address the bullpen situation at the deadline.
Yanks would be the perfect trade partner.

The Cubs traded Arodys Vizcaino to the Braves for Tommy La Stella FYI

Yea one of those rare trades that kinda worked out for both teams. I would not mind having La Stella back but if I had to say the Braves got the best of that .

But to answer this thead they are not overated.

The starting pitching has overachieved though and that's finally come down to earth some.
But most smart people already knew that.

Braves yesterday just signed the #1 3rd base prospect since Miguel Cabrera.

We are absolutely loaded on the farm.
Got an all star at every position in the minors .

Remember the name Kevin Miatan folks.
Buy all his baseball cards before they go up in value. This is a generational talent.

The Braves have the undisputed #1 farm system in all of baseball.

It wont be long before the CHOP will be back.

So all you people that pull for other teams you better get your world series titles in now cause we about to go on a run like nobody has ever seen.

Agreed. The Cubs were collecting bats at the time and La Stella is underrated. The guy hits tons of line drives and is an on-base machine. Vizcaino is reaching his ceiling, however.

Ironically, the Cubs originally got Vizcaino from the Braves in an earlier trade... before trading him back to them. Ha.

Funny how when the Cubs were setting the world on fire, detractors said "regular season doesn't matter, playoffs are all that matter." Now they ran into a buzzsaw in NY in a pre-ASG series, and this is their big "I told you so" moment. Thought regular season didn't matter?

Bottom line is this team will win the Central, and then we'll see what they do in the playoffs. Keep in mind that the team you are seeing now is not the team they will run out there in October, I promise you that.

As far as the OP question, I guess it depends on whose rating you are using. If you are judging by the game lines, then yes, they are overrated. They were favored 3 of the 4 games in NY and only a small dog with Hammel vs DeGrom (lol). They are -220ish seemingly every day. They are not worth following right now. So by that definition they are overrated. But a lot of that is just the market correcting itself from earlier in the year. It will find its equilibrium, always does.

Yes and only because they are so hyped. They are in a 3 way tie with Giants and Nats but they are getting 10 times the hype.

yes this team is overhyped.

Pitching is going to hurt them more and more as the year goes on, especially if Arrieta's fall to earth continues

Overhyped by whom? Early in the season the baseball pundits were on their jock, but I really don't hear that kind of chatter anymore. I think anyone in their right mind understands that the season ebbs and flows and they are struggling a bit right now.

Pitching is going to hurt them? Name any team in baseball with a better rotation. Only SF is close.

Bullpen help is on the way.

As usual you don't know what the fuck you are talking about.

I agree with this

Of course you do...cause it's fucking retarded.

He never had a chance to win in TB. In his first year in Chicago he took a team starting FIVE rookies and won 97 games and took them to the NLCS, winning manager of the year.

If he doesn't win a title in the next few years then sure, you can make this statement. But not now.

Indeed

3 closers on that roster that would work.

If I'm Theo im licking my chops at the chance to get Chapman.

Yankees want Schwarber to make that deal, and that's not going to happen.

I do think Schwarber is best served as trade bait, but not for a one year rental on Chapman.
