most people don't understand the differences between sales, marketing and advertising.
so I'll assume when you say you'll "market the place" you'll design the logo and signage, decide the color scheme of the building, work with the architect on the look of the structure/approach to the building and traffic flow. you'll also make media buys in the local newspaper and take the million sales calls you'll get from the yellowpages, radio stations and anyone else selling ad space.
you'll also work with your partner to decide how much of your gross sales will be devoted to "market the place" and how much to charge for services and when to run sales
when sales are off your partner can come to you and tell you what a shitty job you are doing, and in turn you can tell him if he did his job better you'd have more repeat business and more word of mouth sales.
I'm being a debbie downer on purpose. everyone is going to tell you not to do this. ask every successful person you know how much support and encouragement they got from their friends... the answer is ZERO.
people don't like to see others succeed that's for sure.
you guys gotta keep your heads on straight in order to make it. it's gonna cost you guys a shitload of money to learn this business. you and your partner need to keep reminding each other that every time you screw up it's not on purpose.
YOU BOTH WILL BE LEARNING.
YOU GOTTA BE ABLE TO LAUGH OFF $10,000 MISTAKES.
Opps... no one checked the fluid level in some machine... now it's ruined, will cost $1000's to fix ...won't do that again!
MY STRONGEST ADVICE TO YOU GUYS IS TO WORK AT ANOTHER CARWASH PART TIME
think of it as getting paid to go to carwash school
