I'm going to the DC game next weekend. Looking forward to it. I think it has a shot to make it; they're in no way trying to compete w/ the NFL, tickets are affordable, ESPN is involved, there's a lot of backers, the salaries aren't out of control/unrealistic. I think it'll end up being a good developmental league and the NFL could buy a stake.

Paying anything over 10 bucks and you are getting ripped off....this new league is a shit show....

It's ratings Saturday were better than any college or NBA basketball games.

Just enjoy some football.

It’s new, folks tuned in to see what it’s about...

Let’s see if it keeps it up and how it does when March Madness and NBA Playoffs get here.

I think it dies off fairly quickly...

I didn’t think it was hitting on much either...

Would watch March Madness any day over it.

I had it on in the background this weekend, it was ok. They need bigger names from college or the NFL and I think it could gain some traction. Harder to root for players you have never heard of

I think it will run atleast 2 years. McMahon and his partners aren't going to let it be a 1 and done.

I don't think it will ever be profitable though. You can run a business a long time w/o profitability nowadays though.

I thought they might have missed an opportunity being a smaller league with only 8 teams, I thought it would have been interesting if the teams were made up of single conference ex football players. NY Guardians could all be ex acc players, have a team in like atlanta with all ex sec players. Dallas could be big 12 etc. Make it a regional thing where maybe they will draw more interest from fans seeing ex college players from their alma mater or at least recognize more players because they use to watch them for years in the conference.

acc, sec, big 10, big 12, pac 10, mountain west, independent etc

I didn't watch but heard good things.

I'm hoping they didn't change the rules too much. You want it to be entertaining by "fixing" what you think the NFL has wrong, but you want it to be the farm system for the NFL. That's the only way you get really good talent.

Is there still Arena football? That lasted for a pretty long time so the XFL has a chance. But if they think they are competing with the NFL they are crazy.

Think McMahon looks at this as a win win for him. IF it succeeds he makes money, if it does not he has a nice tax write off...

They are not competing with NFL at all, it seems the NFL is tacitly supporting the league.
If it did not have the NFL blessing they would not be playing in some NFL stadiums and having NFL players announcing games...
