However, I find it very odd that guys who would pass on a $5000 wager over 1/2 a point would give no regard to thousands of $$ lost on the initial depreciation of a brand new automobile, regardless of the brand name or country of origin.

Is this the post to which you refer?

p.s. Sorry if the "jap" reference is dated to the point where it is no longer relevant. I thought a few folks might remember Bill Parcells' reference to "jap plays." I can see where it would be no big deal to refer to "jap cars," "chink cars," "kike cars," "kraut cars," "limey cars," , etc. No problem for me. No offense taken.
Well put Qquantumleap said:I think one would find that any vehicle from a company headquartered in Japan is much more reliable than a vehicle headquartered in Detroit regardless of where the vehicle was constructed. Ask any consumer watchdog company like Consumer Reports and you would find that "Japanese" vehicles break down less than "American" vehicles.
If I find a restaurant run by Japanese to have better tasting food than a restaurant run by Americans, I will eat at the Japanese restaurant. Why buy American if they produce a lower quality product?
I used to work for Motorola. If Nokia makes a better cell phone you should buy that one instead of trying to save jobs for Americans working for Motorola. If the company doesn't make a better product the workers should find another employer like I did.
