So you can get 7000 more miles out of them. Some deals should be out out there, people are winterizing their cars.

7k miles should be 3-4 months on the wife's car, or the middle of the winter. Soon enough the 2007 CR-V, will have more mileage than my 2000 F-150.

Does a local somehow get better quality tires than a Costco ?

Depends on the brand or kind of tire your looking for. Do a price comparison check wherever and whenever you can.....it doesn't cost anything.

If anything, I'd think the low-volume local, would stick me with the 6-year old tires, instead of a high-volume Costco.

No confidence in your locals eh? Their wouldn't be any locals around if they sold 6 yr. old tires lol.

It just seems more likely to me that a small shop would have old stock, and higher prices. I think the tires are the the same, either place buys them from the manufacturer. Mounting and balancing tires is not very difficult, so I'd trust a Costco to do it.

I do have a local mechanic that I trust, but I can't see him matching the prices. His shop is a pain the ass to get into. He has like no parking.

I just spent $2100 on my 2004 Maxima(52,000 miles), for two new tires(rotate and balance), front and rear brakes, front and rear struts, 2 fukn belts(?), and some kind of diagnostic check-up test. What a sucker!

Sounds like the Nissan dealer kind of fucked you over, IMO. I'm not a professional mechanic,BTW.

The tires should go as a set, unless you never rotated them ? The other two tires can't have too much left on them.

Brakes at 52k sounds a bit early to me. Struts sounds way early, that could easily go 100k. The serpentine belt should go longer than that.

I'd have to say that you did some stuff ahead of time, and the tires should be replaced as a set.

I don't like dealerships for service.

The roads are so bad(major construction) coming and going to where I play golf, that this is tires #5 and 6 that I've had to replace. I looked it up out of curiosity? They are Bridgestones. By the way, I play golf on occasion with the guy that owns this dealership, and he is a pure sucker.
