Anyone here thinks Jake Peavy is the most overrated pitcher in baseball?

I didnt just made this thread b/c of one bad start he had. I just am frustrated seeing ppl think he is so good when this year he has pitched below average even for a normal MLB pitcher when he goes against Dbacks, Cubbies and Yankees away from home. He has not once won a game this year away from petco against a decent team. Only win he got this year that is considered a good team was against the Brewers with Sheets on the mound but he did pitch at Petco park.

Now a guy like Roy Halladay is the real deal. He is the best pitcher in baseball. Look at how many complete games this guy has thrown this year for the Jays. I just think Peavy gets so much help for his ERA b/c of Petco Park. If Roy Halladay pitched for the Padres... oh man his E.R.A might be below a 2.00.

Peavy beat Arizona at Arizona on July 5th. He pitched 7 shutout innings.

Yep, clearly never good before last year. With a career ERA of 3.23 I'm surprised the guy still has a job.

15-6 at 2.27, 13-7 at 2.88 weren't good?

Was he a big name pitcher back in 2004/2005? I watch baseball pretty close but never heard about this guy. Only guys that i heard about that were good were Beckett, Lackey, Santana, Escobar, Tim Hudson.

Maybe it was b/c i didnt care about NL West teams at that time which was why i didnt know who the heck he was.

Speaking of Beckett, have you seen him pitch this year? ERA over 4, home ERA over 5. Beckett is a fine pitcher but he's also had a ton of run support. Tim Hudson? He was really good in Oakland but in my opinion he's not been that super in Atlanta. I wouldn't put Hudson anywhere near the list of top tier pitchers. Lackey has been good but he's never been as good as Peavy and Escobar hasn't even been close.

yes Beckett is not good this year really. I was referring to back to his 2003-2005 days. Kelvim Escobar for the Angels the last year or 2 has been phenomenal. He pitched better than John Lackey.

Hudson is decent but is struggling. My point is that Peavy's E.R.A is mostly contributed to at least 60 percent of his games being played at Petco Park, Dodger Stadium and Giant Stadium.

CY Young winner for the padres, dont be mad because u bet on him tonight and AZ came back and won, u obviously dont realize how lucky the Pads are to have him, If he was on any top team that backed him up with run support it would be a different story, and he plays for the Padres who are not a good ball club.
