If he fails in the NFL, it won't be because of his leadership qualities. Those guys you mentioned, Russell, Leaf, and Clausen, all had known leadership problems coming out of school. Cam doesnt have those issues- all his teammates talked about what a great leader he was, and he lead quite a few 4th quarter comebacks and wins in tight games. If he fails, it will be because his game doesn't translate to the next level, which Gruden is pointing out is very different from the college game. But I don't think Leaf and Russell are fair comparisons.

i mentioned those two,...because of the hype & money they stole from their respective teams...

newton already has millions from his clothing deal...alot of hype there...

Gruden showed,... that he is going to have to work really hard to just call the plays...

then its his mechanics...& i dont think that will be fixed to improve his ability to make all the throws...

I see him being a colossal bust

ALL of these so called "athletic" QB's have one thing in common, they're morons. Russell, Culpepper, Young, etc.! IQ's of a dim bulb. Can't adjust to NFL D's or absorb verbage & make adjustments on the fly. Give me Dalton over all these "guns". IMO the greatest QB ever, Joe Cool didn't have a "big" arm either, football smarts are inherent, something you can't teach.hno:

simple does not win games in the NFL...

defenses are too sophisticated,...& you have all the offensive coordinators trying to outsmart the dc's...

need a QB that can run the entire playbook...

newton would be better off trying to run a crossing pattern for 5 yards

I'm sticking to my guns. Ryan Mallett is definitely the best QB in the draft.
