About a half hour after i took the pill i started to feel the effects. I took the pill and immediately laid down and turned the t.v. off and tried to go to sleep. this was around 11 oclock, and i havent been to bed before 4 am in over a month mind you. i had some weird thoughts in my head but nothing crazy, kind of felt like a little party in my head.

i then fell asleep at about 11:30 and didnt wake up until 4:40, which is weird cause i never wake up in the middle of the night. I did fall back asleep easily however. Also, i had some really vivid dreams and i actually thought they were real--i didnt mind those, im just waiting for jessica alba to pop up in one soon haha. overall it was pretty solid and got some good sleep. it was nice to go to bed before midnight i had forgot what that felt like.

I take an 10mg of ambien almost every night. I love the stuff. I sleep like a baby, for about 5-6 hours then tend to wake up, but can fall back asleep rather easily.

As has been stated above, be extremely careful when you take them as it can cause you to have no idea what you are doing, i.e. never drive.

Sports,

I have OCD with Anxiety. I tried Lexapro and many other things but never could really get it right until I got on the Extended Release Xanax. I take one in the morning and deal with everything fine during the day and fall asleep most nights without a problem. On the nights when I have a tough time I rely on Chamomile Tea. On the worse nights I'll take a regular Xanax .5 or 1. Good Luck

Before ambien came along, I fought each night to get 2-3 hrs sleep. Felt like hell the next day.
Now with generic ambien (about 2 years), I sleep great, wake up feeling great and am addicted. Thank God my doctor writes it, but the insurance will fight it after a year; so requires you to call and your doctor to write a letter.

Best good sleep medicine I have ever found; and tried them ALL!
You may experience a few slightly weird dreams, but they go away and for probably 95%+ of people it's a good medicine.

A common side effect to both Ambien and Xanax use is increasingly vivid dreaming while sleeping.

Sometimes that's kinda cool, while others it can seem mildly distressing if the dream sequence includes dramatic events.

I wonder why i woke up REFRESHED at 4:30 a.m., but then went back to sleep for a few more hours?

Oh ya I did... I used to be crawling up the walls with FULL TILT ANXIETY issues which runs in my family.

If you talk to your Doctor try to get on Xanax Extended Release not the regular ones.. The regular ones you get all caught up with and you don't want to be popping those all day and getting all faded and tired. The XR Xanax enters your body slowly and keeps you level throughout the day, at least with me.

Heh...when I saw this thread my first thought was, "I wonder if Kornholio ever got to sleep..."

okay...but seriously, the responses you describe strongly suggest you are unwittingly overdosing if you are repeatedly finding yourself with blackout periods from the night before.

Consider doing some breakdown so that you're only using 7.5

I've thought about that but never done it because the pills I get are so tiny... it is hard to cut 1/4 off. I think I'll try that though, that would probably be the best dose for me.

Us to take them, loved them, no side affects for me at all. No "hangovers" at all. I slept like a baby.

Me too...but it only takes 15-30 min to really kick in so be ready to sleep. One minute wide awake, next thing you are waking up with the birds chirping....no hangovers at all here. I think most of those people who have side effects are probably taking more than recommended.

KORN, actually you just need a sharp steak knife.

Hold the pill against a bread board with two fingers and that should allow enough room to place the blade right on the indention in the middle of the pill.

Apply modest pressure down (don't try and saw it in half) and it should break.

From there, just break the resulting .5 in half with your fingers.

It's not utterly precise...You might get a 1/4 piece that's a bit bigger than the other, but it's close enough so you know you're in between 5 and 10 when you take a 1/2 pill and one of the quarters.

Also, breaking down the pill causes it to then break down a bit faster in your digestive system and this might help you get desired results while taking a lesser amount.

When I quit drinking caffeine(Diet-Mountain Dew and Coffee), going to sleep at night became easy. Also, don't take naps.

Gonna go out and drink some beer later, ambien takers think it will matter?

To tell you the truth, I always drank on them, never had a problem, but some people may have a problem. I wouldn't push your luck sence you just started taking them. + beer = carbs and carbs = energy, which will keep you awake.
