Yes.
And there will be many millions of people not only affected, but put in dire consequences.
Virtually all of Boston is working from home if you spend your day on a computer. Paychecks will still be coming in. Minor disruption compared to all the small businesses and their employees who will lose their businesses and jobs.
When they do, they won't be able to pay for their healthcare, rent, mortgages, car payments and many other things.
Add in the retired who had their assets in vulnerable stocks. Add in all the other investment wealth lost.
These government induced problems are going to be further weighted by the price of oil falling to levels that will undoubtedly force massive layoffs from good paying jobs.
Rinse and repeat, rents, mortgages, and car payments. Throw in credit card debt.
Consumer demand will shrink creating more problems.
I've been against these shutdowns since day one. They are creating MUCH BIGGER problems in an effort to play God and stop a naturally occurring virus. Maybe unnaturally. But the response will be much more damaging than the virus itself.
If these shutdowns remain over a couple of weeks, the problems I outlined above will only be a piece of the malignancy.
Let the damned virus run it's course.

My wife is a (master) teacher. She is grossly underpaid. She works harder than I do.
Funny how teachers who BITCH about their pay all the time havent been bitching the last couple of days since they dont have to work and getting paid in full.
Yes teachers work very hard. My kids have had some awesome teachers and we have been grateful.
I'm talking about the ones (usually pretty liberal) who bitch about everything on social media and always bitching how much they work and how little they get paid. What i'm saying is you never hear them bitch and complain when they are getting paid for NOT working.
Teachers actually dont get paid that bad for a profession where you work 36-40 weeks out of the year
so you're assuming all schools and all teachers are getting the same deal as your wife. that's just simply not trueLet me fill you as you’re greatly uneducated about this topic. I’m married to a teacher and she is working way more now remotely with her students than she does in the classroom. And, she’s getting shit from the union for hosting video chats with the kids as other teachers feel that is above and beyond.
What made you think all schools have stopped? They are educating 30-40 kids online with helicopter parents overseeing lesson plans.

I have 3 friends that are teachers and none of them were moved into virtual slots. two headed down to the Amazon distribution center in Sewickley today to pick up some hours driving packages around and the other is helping a restaurant with take-out orders since they banned in-store dining. zero are working virtually
