You don’t get to burn innocent children when you could peacefully wait it out.

Are you excusing the murder of Federal Agents and the refusal to comply with lawful orders to come out hands up? Who held the kids hostage?

Ruby Ridge is a bit different than Waco but it started just like Waco did. Agents go to serve a warrant and agent gets shot and killed as did Weaver's 14-year-old kid. Weaver's kid shot at the agent.

Had the agents not shot his wife, the blame would've rested solely on the shoulders of Randall Weaver.

Why do you guys think it's ok to pull out a gun and shoot a an armed federal agent who is serving a signed Federal arrest warrant?

Enfuego, I'm glad you brought up the show. Just finished the 1st episode and I'm hooked. I vaguely remember when all this went down, but I was too young at the time to really understand it.

I remember it very clearly. Koresh was like a Jim Jones kind of guy. He attracted people with no purpose in life to his compound. Very charismatic kind of leader. That doesn't mean you get to shoot Federal Agents serving a Federal search warrant.

Ruby ridge and Weaver was screwd over bad. . And Weaver got paid a couple million
Waco was sickening. Koresh was a freak and a crazy but so what. They were gun dealers. They sold guns to survive they should have waited it out forever. Don’t kill kids. The government could have arrested him as he jogged every morning. Just because those freaks believed crazy shit doesn’t mean storm them with weapons. Total mistake. Tim Mcveigh I hated to see what he did but they haven’t had another Waco since mcveigh acted. So be it.

Koresh had a pretty good scheme going. Bang all the women while the cuck weirdos weren't allowed to touch them. More power to them I suppose. They all seemed to be there of their own free will and weren't hurting anyone.

They guy who plays Koresh in the show nails it. He really does a great job.

Agents sent a notification to Weaver with the wrong court appearance date. He was supposed to show up on Feb 20 but the notice said March 20. Instead of letting his case go until March 20, they decided to convene a grand jury and indict him before the March 20 hearing. Weaver's crime was sawing a shotgun down by .25 of an inch too much.

They screwed up. I get it.

What did Weaver's family do in response? They shot an armed Federal Agent attempting to serve a warrant. Seems like a reasonable response.

They were in a firefight with agents, although no one has been able to determine who fired the first shot.

another episode that painted the ATF in a horrible light. Curious did any charges come of this event on either side (atf/fbi or any survivors charged?). did anyone stepdown or retire after the incident. I was very young when this happened and Id prefer to finish the mini series before doing a bunch of research on my own.

A&E did a 2-part series on Waco a while back and it was fantastic. The lead negotiator (the guy on the phone with koresh) and the lead ATF ground guy were simply blood-thirsty horrible human beings that could not wait to kill some fuckers. You can almost see the ground guy getting horny when recanting the opportunity to use all these fancy new tanks and guns they had only practiced with at Fort Hood.

that documentary also spots Tim McVeigh in the crowd btw....

there were two folks on the govt side that came off really well...the Mexican undercover agent that is now being played by John Leguziamo on the new Waco show, and the head of the Texas Rangers. Those guys knew that the aggression the ATF was planning was going to result in disaster.

The A&E show also highlighted a theologian that was aligning Koresh's action with the bible and tried many times to explain to ATF that if an action was taken he was going to see this through until death because he believed he was living the 5th seal. The ATF, of course, did not give the theology professor 5 minutes of their time to hear/see the biblical evidence. This guy's specialty was studying cult leaders that used the bible for their purposes so he knew that the hell he was talking about.

all goes back to unprovoked govt intervention...without Ruby Ridge, this chaotic action isn't taken in Waco, and without Waco there is no McVeigh action in Oklahoma City. dominoes...
