PRELUDE VTEC

First off, I have a cable connecting with Comcast and use to have a problem with thousands of pop ups and hour!!! I have tried the google toolbar and other FREE program but I had no success. I download lots music of the Internet and found out that my computer contained lots of Spy ware programs. Here is what you need to do to get rid of pop ups forever:

1. Download a free copy of Spybot 1.2 SKY BOT PROGRAM that will delete all skyware on your computer.

2. Next get admuncher (AD MUNCHER) which cost $25 and you will never see a pop up add again.

My friends works for the government and those are the two programs that they use for there computers.

Best of luck in what you pick!!!

browsers

netscape.net
mozilla.org
opera.com

I prefer Mozilla, it's the one that Netscape is based on so it's essentially the same but without the Netscape added crap. Opera is the fastest of all 4 main browsers but may have problems hitting certain pages. I keep IE intstalled just because I do sometimes find sites that have trouble with the others, not very often the other way around but sometimes.

All of them have settings which will stop all popups, and allow you to allow popups from sites on a selective basis if you wish.

The reason Internet Explorer doesn't do this is that Gates and Co. figure they can make more dough if they partner with people who make annoying you a way of life. If they blocked popups that would eliminate a potential 'revenue stream'. There is money to be made in pissing you off perpetually, you see. It's the Microsoft way, whether it's a shitty O/S, a shitty office suite, or a shitty browser.

Spend $65 and get Norton Internet Security. Has it all. I am glad I did. No popups at all and viruses are detected at a rate of about 10 a day now!!!!

the best pop up stopper is to modify your host file with the addresses of non-wanted sites to point to you (127.0.0.1)....do a google...it also will also block those parasites cause you never go to them......the less software running the better for me ....
