don't know how you do it, I'm not cut out for it. Tried it once , I lasted two yrs . Headaches. Sold and bought a vacation property in Blue Mountain- a 3rd party handles its management. Other option for passive income? covered call options selling (with the underlying being broadly based). Evidence based. ALWAYS the seller. Buying is for the gamblers, :).

its not for everyone. Silly Wall Street with her games...but a rather innocuous derivative.

lest we forget, in your case, the added benefit of real estate appreciation is mighty cool. :). Enjoy. Hope the electrical issue wasn't a shit show.

I assume you sell out of the money calls? I definitely think it can decrease variance/volatility but the prices tend to be very efficient if you are doing it with blue chip stocks. Basically just getting income for apprecation but not really being paid much for giving up the upside.

Well, it's relatively passive for me because poster Fig runs the day to day headache bullshit - I really only do the acquisitions and legal stuff and help him out but it's his job to deal with Pebbles Washington and her 17 keedz - covered options selling??? is that Greek? one thing I don't like doing is getting into things I don't know anything about

Another thing I don't like about otm CC is the tax issues. If the stock spikes and gets called you gotta pay short-term cap gains which is way higher than long-term.

Is that how it is in Canada or ?

Under the Great George W Bush long term were gains were 15% versus 35% - I would simply do a year contract before selling anything within a year

The contract can be called within a year by the person you sell it to if they want to. Hard to explain but you can't really avoid it that easy.

Why Tone told AJ "Buy land cause they're not making anymore of it"

...PS the whole reason that seymour has to pose this question on a forum is I am in the middle of firing our electrician for a variety of transgressions. Then again, what can I expect from an electrician that honed his work ethic during a 7-month construction stint at sey's house in 2012 which mainly consisted of seymour grilling the workers steaks every day, them polishing off a handle a day of you-name-it and $800 a week in white. True story.
