Mostly along party lines, the House of Representatives approved two bills -- the American Dream and Promise Act and the Farm Workforce Modernization Act -- that would grant amnesty to more than 5 million illegal aliens in the midst of one of the worst border surges in history.

House to Vote on Two Major Amnesties this Thursday: H.R. 6 and H.R. 1603[/h]
The American Dream and Promise Act (H.R. 6), and The Farm Workforce Modernization Act (H.R. 1603), both massive amnesties, are scheduled to be voted on by the House of Representatives this Thursday. Neither bill provides any accommodation or enforcement for the current crisis at the Southern Border, and, like all amnesties, will only harm Americans and already present Immigrants all around the country.

Large majorities of likely voters think that any amnesty should (1) mandate E-Verify to be fully implemented for all employers before any benefits for illegal aliens, (2) bar the amnestied illegal aliens from any family chain migration, and (3) exclude illegal aliens who have been in the country for fewer than 10 years. Pelosi's amnesty bills this week fail on all.

Border Patrol Apprehends Over 100,000 Illegal Border Crossers in February[/h]

Customs and Border Protection announced this week that Border Patrol agents apprehended 96,974 illegal border crossers in February. That's the largest number of apprehensions since the border surge of 2019 when Border Patrol agents apprehended 99,273 and 132,856 in April and May, respectively. The February number is 45% higher than the number from February of 2019, suggesting that this spring's numbers could be much larger than 2019.
