Post-Election Poll Shows Voter Opposition to Amnesty"Congress-Free" Executive Amnesty Still Promised
[/SIZE][/FONT][/h]Dear James,
Election Analysis – Voters slap down amnesty supporters. Oregon rejects licenses for illegals. Poll shows opposition to Obama amnesty plan.
Voter opposition to amnesty and massive immigration helped Republicans take control of the Senate and increase their majority in the House. TheWashington Post headlined, “Immigration a losing issue for Dems in 2014 election.”
Republicans who opposed comprehensive amnesty ousted Democrats who voted for the Senate bill in key states such as Arkansas, North Carolina, and Colorado, and the issue brought Scott Brown from far behind in the polls to within a whisker of an upset in Massachusetts.
Concern over the economy, not immigration, was foremost on the mind of voters, but voters may now understand the link between the two. A recent study from the Center for Immigration Studies found that since 2000, all of the employment growth in the America has gone to immigrants, legal and illegal. CBS News analysis said, “Republicans are reaping most, if not all, of the voter unease about border security, immigration and wage competition.”
Poll shows opposition to executive amnesty
While President Obama has vowed to plow ahead with his executive amnesty plan, a post-election survey of voters shows that they reject his policy. The Polling Company found 74% of voters want Obama to work with Congress on immigration policy rather than “changing immigration policy on his own,” and 80% want new jobs created in the economy to go to American workers and legal immigrants already here rather than new immigrants.
CAPS is completely non-partisan and never supports or opposes political candidates. We are, however, concerned about the impact of overpopulation and over immigration on the environment and economy. CAPS’ TV ads in key markets leading up to the election highlighted the plight of American workers even as billionaires lobbied for more immigration.
Oregon voters say no to illegal immigration
The only direct election on immigration occurred in liberal Oregon where voters rejected driver’s licenses for illegal aliens by an astounding 68-32 percent. Grassroots activists placed Measure 88 on the ballot to overturn an act of the legislature, and they achieved their victory in spite of being vastly outspent. Moreover, their percentage of the vote exceeded that of any statewide candidate or initiative.
New challenges
In spite of the expressed wishes of the voters, immigration amnesty supporters from both parties plan to move ahead. Immigration enthusiasts are increasing their call for President Obama to issue an executive order for a massive amnesty.
Sen. Jeff Flake, R-AZ, one of the Gang of Eight, said the Republican Senate could work with the Republican House to pass a new immigration amnesty bill. Even Mitt Romney said comprehensive immigration reform will be the top priority for the Senate. Business interests see a victory for the GOP “establishment” wing that will serve their interests with more foreign labor. Some open-border advocates offered a revisionist theory—Obama’s delay in the executive amnesty suppressed Latino turnout and led to the Democratic losses.
Stay tuned to your inbox, CAPS Facebook page, Twitter feed and website for more developments and information about how you can help preserve the environment and promote a healthy economy.

Here is a post-election poll result that the executive-amnesty advocates in the White House don't want the public to see: 74% of people who voted on Tuesday want President Obama to work with Congress on immigration reform; only 20% want him to change immigration policy on his own.

Few in the media have reported the story, which is why we need your help to promote these articles:
"Poll Shows Huge Opposition To Oval Office Amnesty" by Neil Munro of the Daily Caller. Munro reports that the poll showed that "majorities of men (75%), women (74%), whites (79%), blacks (59%), and Hispanics (54%) all recommended that the President collaborate with Congress before changing immigration law."

"Midterm exit polls: 75% reject exec amnesty, 80% don't want foreign workers taking jobs from Americans," by Tony Lee of Breitbart. Lee reports: Obama may also grant work permits to millions of illegal immigrants and give the tech industry nearly a million more guest-worker permits via executive amnesty.

But 80% of voters surveyed wanted "new jobs created by the economy to go to American workers and legal immigrants already in the country." The view was shared across all regions---74% in the Northeast, 80% in the Midwest, 85% in the South, and 80% in the West--and among men and women (no gender gap).

This poll could put enormous public pressure on the White House to back off it's promise to open up U.S. jobs to millions of illegal aliens and future foreign workers.

Use #tellusatoday to share your view on the annual levels of immigration
msp-confidential-stamp.png
Tweeters, Facebookers, Countrymen:

USA Today is asking readers to use the hashtag #TellUSAToday to share your thoughts on immigration policy
USA Today asks: "Immigration invigorates or cripples nation?" Which is, of course, the wrong question. The immigration debate is not about whether immigration is good or bad, or whether we should welcome immigrants or not. The debate is about the numerical levels of immigration. Are they too high, too low, or just right?
Few Americans even know that immigration averages about one million people per year. Fewer still know that we bring in another 700,000 or so foreign guest workers every year. The past few decades have witnessed the greatest wave of immigration in United States history.
USA Today is running a special report about this greatest wave. But they have decided to ignore the question of numerical impact on workers or environmental quality of life.
USA Today is publishing some of the comments. Here's one from Al Trease of Idaho:
Take a moment and ask some basic questions about our present immigration policies. We are already the third-highest population in the world. Why would we want to catch up to China or India?

As we hurtle toward more than 400 million Americans by 2050, the environmental and social impacts of this tidal wave will fundamentally affect Americans' lives, nearly all negatively.

We are already past a sustainable population that can live in harmony with our resources or environment.
Please add your own #TellUSAToday comments. Thank you for contributing to a civil debate about immigration policy.

Call and ask your Sheriff to attend the DC Rally!
Click here to find your Sheriff:
http://www.sheriffs.org/content/americas-sheriffs-0

Dear James,
Sheriffs from across the nation will rally in Washington, DC, to call for Congress to pass, and for the President to sign, “legislation that will secure border security once and for all.” Ask your sheriff to attend and support this noble cause.
Sheriff Thomas Hodgson of Bristol County, MA, has sent a letter to all sheriffs asking them to assemble on December 10, two days before the existing government-funding bill expires, to hold a press conference along with members of Congress who oppose amnesty. The timing is crucial, as a short-term funding bill will allow the new Congress to cut off funds for the executive amnesty, while a long-term bill would remove Congress’s financial levers. Hodgson wants at least 200 sheriffs to travel to Washington for this historic meeting to speak out for border security. He wrote:
Never before in our nation’s history has it been so important for the American Sheriffs to stand united and speak with one voice to secure our nation’s borders. No longer can we sit idle while the inaction of our Federal Government marginalizes our ability to preserve public safety, enforce our laws, and protect the Constitutional rights of all who legitimately reside and work in our communities. As a fellow Sheriff, and someone who shares a common mission and obligation to defend the public safety and national security concerns of our citizens, I am respectfully asking that you join me and our brother and sister Sheriffs….
These local officers can bring their valuable and unique perspective to the debate over out-of-control immigration. They see the danger to local communities that result from the failure of the federal government to protect our border.
Please call your sheriff and voice your support for this effort. Ask your sheriff to attend this rally.
Sincerely,

Count New York Times readers among the 74 percent opposed to executive action on immigration

Updated:

Thu, Nov 13[SUP]th[/SUP] 2014 @ 10:20 pm EST by Jeremy Beck
The New York Times editorial "Mr. Obama's Moment on Immigration," garnered 458 comments, 322 of which made the "Readers' Picks" list. Of those 322, I counted 25 that supported the editorial's pro-executive-action stance. Of the 25 comments in favor of executive action, 21 were recommended ten times or less. None of the 25 received more than 67 recommendations (and that comment stated, in part, that "The message should be clear that US values legal immigration over illegal entry. If we make laws, we should implement them.").

Report: Pres. Obama to grant amnesty to 4.5 million illegal aliens next week

Updated:

Thu, Nov 13[SUP]th[/SUP] 2014 @ 7:21 am EST
Fox News is reporting that Pres. Obama will announce a 10-point executive action on immigration next week that will grant deferred action to at least 4.5 million illegal aliens. The report does not stipulate whether or not the action will issue work permits to illegal aliens, but does indicate that illegal-alien parents of U.S. citizen children would be eligible to receive the amnesty. The action will also expand the President's 2012 executive action, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).

In an op-ed for Politico Magazine, Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) called on Republicans to fight Pres. Obama's executive amnesty and to "protect its own people". The President's executive amnesty would grant work permits to an estimated 5-6 million people, but Congress can use its power of the purse to defund the executive amnesty. The federal government is currently funded through mid-December, but lawmakers are working on a long-term spending bill that would fund the government through September 2015.

Regarding executive amnesty: We can draw attention to what the media ignores.
msp-confidential-stamp.png
,

New stories about President Obama's promised executive immigration actions are popping up by the hour.
The media isn't focusing on the fact that Obama's plan is to add more foreign job seekers to the labor market (including and in addition to opening up U.S. jobs to millions of people in the country illegally). So that responsibility will have to fall on you, me, and the larger NumbersUSA grassroots operation.
"Immigration is a tough issue to report dispassionately. The costs are loaded onto people who don't carry a lot of weight in our society. The benefits are collected by some of the most influential interests in America, including of course the affluent and educated social classes from which journalists are mostly recruited."

--- David Frum, The Atlantic, June 11, 2014.
Here are a few key points for us all to make when we comment online, engage with social media, or discuss executive actions with others:
Executive action is about granting work permits to millions of people in the U.S. illegally so they can compete with Americans and legal immigrants at every skill level.

The media prefers to use the same language the White House does to sell the executive action to the public. But the executive action isn't about providing "relief" from deportations. That's already happened:
"In many ways, the very significant thing that's happened...is essentially the ending of the deportation of people in the interior without criminal records, which is by far and away the overwhelming majority of undocumented immigrants in the United States. That's already happened."

--- Simon Rosenberg, founder of the New Democratic Network, October 21, 2014
Executive amnesty is unfair to American workers struggling to stay in the middle class or looking for a clear shot to work their way up into the middle class.

No executive order can repeal the law of supply and demand. President Obama himself wrote in his 2006 autobiography about the harm mass immigration (including illegal immigration) does to American workers:
"The number of immigrants added to the labor force every year is of a magnitude not seen in this country for over a century. If this huge influx of mostly low-skill workers provides some benefits to the economy as a whole...it also threatens to depress further the wages of blue-collar Americans and put strains on an already overburdened safety net."

--- Barak Obama, The Audacity of Hope, 2006
74 percent of midterm voters want President Obama to work with Congress, not go it alone on immigration.

80% of voters want "new jobs created by the economy to go to American workers and legal immigrants already in the country."
"The President will arrogate to himself the sole and absolute power to decide who can work in the U.S., who can live in the U.S., and who can claim benefits in the U.S. -- by the millions. His actions will wipe out the immigration protections to which every single American citizen is lawfully entitled."

--- Sen. Jeff Sessions, "No Surrender On Immigration," Politico, November 10, 2014
The GOP must stop executive amnesty to keep it's promise to voters.

Immigration contributed greatly to the malaise midterm voters felt about the economy. After the election, Speaker Boehner and incoming Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell wrote in the Wall Street Journal:
"Americans have entrusted Republicans with control of both the House and Senate. We are humbled by this opportunity to help struggling middle-class Americans who are clearly frustrated by an increasing lack of opportunity, the stagnation of wages, and a government that seems incapable of performing even basic tasks."

--- John Boehner and Mitch McConnell, "Now We Can Get Congress Going," November 5, 2014.
To stop executive amnesty, Congress must pass a short-term spending bill during the lame duck.

A short-term spending bill would give the incoming Congress the opportunity to defund any illegal actions the President might take on immigration.
"Why would any member of Congress who opposes executive amnesty provide President Obama the funds to carry it out?"

--- Sen. Jeff Sessions, November 10, 2014
These are the key points missing from mainstream media's coverage. Stay on target. Spread the word. And thank you for all that you do.

Americans Against Illegal Immigration.

He can’t just leave the Presidency without doing something as ‘legendary’ as this. Check it out…
In a move set to poison relations with Congress for the last two years of his term, President Obama plans to unveil a sweeping executive action as early as next week to legalize millions of illegal [alien] immigrants who are living in the United States – as long as they’re with children who were born here and in the country legally.
It’s the most controversial of a set of proposals reported by Fox News. Under the draft, which could be made official as soon as Nov. 21, the government would legalize up to 4.5 million illegal [alien] immigrants who have children born in the U.S., with millions more getting the chance to legalize their immigration status through other means, according to Fox.
The leak comes after Obama was publicly warned that unilateral action on immigration would be “playing with fire” by House Speaker Rep. John Boehner, R-Ohio, and “waving a red flag in front of a bull,” by Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., the likely incoming Senate majority leader. [UPDATE: The Republican caucus unanimously elected McConnell the next Senate majority leader in a vote Thursday morning.]

These law breaking criminals were recruited here by obama and the leftists scum to vote for them and to destroy the very fabric of our nation. These illegal ALIENS will be deported and the borders will be sealed, preventing ebola scum and isis from entering as well. We have lived through the worst Presidency in American History.

If this Obama guy was not the first black president he'd know that if he tried this unprecedented amnesty
manuever he'd be impeached. It's like the inmates are running the asylum. Political correctness has bought about

Jeff Sessions

Sen. Sessions released the following statement tonight on President Obama’s announced executive amnesty:
“President Obama’s executive amnesty violates the laws Congress has passed in order to create and implement laws Congress has refused to pass. The President is providing an estimated 5 million illegal immigrants with social security numbers, photo IDs and work permits—allowing them to now take jobs directly from struggling Americans during a time of record immigration, low wages, and high joblessness.
This amnesty plan was rejected by the American people’s Congress. By refusing to carry out the laws of the United States in order to make his own, the President is endangering our entire Constitutional order.
The President’s plan will apparently also allow many illegal immigrants to receive green cards and become legal permanent residents—meaning they can access almost all U.S. welfare programs, have lifetime work authorization, obtain citizenship, and sponsor foreign relatives to join them in the U.S.
Law enforcement has warned this unprecedented amnesty will unleash a ‘tidal wave’ of new illegal immigration flooding into American neighborhoods at taxpayers’ expense.
The President’s plan also calls for boosting foreign worker programs for IT companies that experts tell us displace U.S. workers and keep wages low.
The President’s unconstitutional action is a direct threat to our Republican system of government and will have catastrophic consequences for the American people. It must be stopped. And the way to stop it is by using Congress’ power of the purse.
The House should send the Senate a government funding bill which ensures no funds can be spent for this unlawful purpose. If Reid’s Senate Democrats vote to surrender their own institution to an imperial dictate and block the measure, then the House should send a short-term funding measure so the new GOP majority can be sworn in and pass a funding bill with the needed language.
Congress has no higher duty than to protect the American people and our Constitution. The President’s action is a threat to every working person in this country—their jobs, wages, dreams, hopes and futures. For years, the American people have begged and pleaded for a lawful system of immigration that serves the nation and makes us proud—but the politicians have refused, refused, refused.
It is time to stand strong for the American people. It is time to champion the interests of those constantly neglected on the question of immigration: the men and women and children we represent—the citizens of this country to whom we owe our ultimate allegiance. Every American must ask their Senator where they stand.”

Today: DECEPTION: Failing to mention work permits was just part of the misdirection & obfuscation of an amnesty speech that depended on voters being stupid

TAKE ACTIONS TO RESPOND TO PRESIDENT'S SPEECH at: www.NumbersUSA.com/actionbuffet

SEE MANY OTHER STORIES ABOUT THE TURMOIL HERE IN WASHINGTON SURROUNDING THE UNILATERAL IMMIGRATION ACTION at: www.NumbersUSA.com

In a 2,200-word speech, he didn't mention "work permits" or "work authorization" even once.

Pres. Obama's huge prime-time TV speech about his big fix of the "broken immigration system" somehow left out the fact that he would be rewarding millions of unlawfully present foreign citizens with three-year work permits to compete directly with struggling American workers.
He hid the most consequential part of his big immigration "deal" from the American people.
The President made it seem like the big change was that he was going to stop deporting illegal aliens who don't have a big felony record. But officials already have acknowledged that the average illegal alien has almost no chance of being deported, anyway.
He told us that if the illegal aliens stay here they have to pay taxes. But he forgot to say they would get work permits and be able to compete for any job in construction, manufacturing, service, programming or any other occupation. Or that they would get Social Security numbers to enable them to obtain all kinds of other documents that could embed them in America for life.
He indicated that Americans who oppose his immigration "deal" for around 5 million illegal aliens might be guilty of religious and racial prejudice, and probably of violating the admonitions of scripture. But he didn't tell the truth about his "deal." He didn't tell Americans about the work permits.
I suppose we should all congratulate ourselves that we have raised the job and wage competition issue to such a high level that the President and his advisors recognized that he did not dare tell Americans about the . . . shhhhhh . . . work permits.
So, forgive me for a little satisfaction that when the Associated Press sent out a group of reactions to the speech tonight, they included one from me that focused on the two most important words that were NOT in the speech -- WORK PERMITS!
"President Obama's unconstitutional plan to reward millions of law-breaking foreign citizens with work permits is especially outrageous at a time of labor surplus and sustained wage depression for American workers and legal immigrants already here."-- Roy Beck, president of NumbersUSA, an immigration control group.
-- Associated Press, "Reaction to the President's Immigration Plan," Nov. 20, 2014
IN HIS OWN WORDS
Let's take a look at the way the President tried to sell his executive immigration policies tonight. And I warn you that I'm not feeling generous.
"Families who enter our country the right way and play by the rules watch others flout the rules. Business owners who offer their workers good wages and benefits see the competition exploit undocumented immigrants by paying them far less.

"All of us take offense to anyone who reaps the rewards of living in America without taking on the responsibilities of living in America. And undocumented immigrants who desperately want to embrace those responsibilities see little option but to remain in the shadows, or risk their families being torn apart."
The whole speech was like this. He would throw in some words and phrases that his pollsters told him tested well in focus groups. But then he didn't connect them to anything that really made any sense.
Yeah, we ARE offended by those who flout the rules. Wouldn't that mean we don't want to see the illegal migrants and the businesses that hire them be rewarded?
The President then seemed to suggest that the illegal migrants who flout the rules should take responsibility for something. However, the responsibility is not for breaking the law but for some kind of "responsibilities of living in America." What is that supposed to mean?
Later in the speech, he seems to suggest that the only problem with illegal immigration is that some of those illegal migrants haven't been paying taxes. Maybe that's the responsibility that makes you worthy of living in America regardless of how many laws you broke to do it.
"Had the House of Representatives allowed that kind of a bill a simple yes-or-no vote, it would have passed with support from both parties, and today it would be the law. But for a year and a half now, Republican leaders in the House have refused to allow that simple vote."
The pro-amnesty groups have made this claim about the Senate's Gang of Eight amnesty the last two years. And, of course, we were always concerned about the danger of what might happen if there had been a vote. Hence, our constant and successful efforts to persuade Speaker Boehner to never bring the amnesty to the floor for a vote. But no news organization was ever able to find nearly enough House Republicans ready to vote for the Senate amnesty bill to reach 218 with the help of all Democrats.
"Even as we are a nation of immigrants, we are also a nation of laws. Undocumented workers broke our immigration laws, and I believe that they must be held accountable"
Throw in another focus group-tested phrase. I kept waiting for exactly how his "deal" would hold the illegal migrants "accountable." But he never really got back to it. The best I could figure out is that the President's tough love approach means that illegal migrants would have to start paying taxes and not be a bad criminal. Wait a minute, isn't that what is expected of all of us who did NOT "flout the law?"
Note to the rest of the world: Overstaying your tourist visa is OK as long as you pay taxes and aren't a bad criminal.
"And let's be honest -- tracking down, rounding up, and deporting millions of people isn't realistic. Anyone who suggests otherwise isn't being straight with you. It's also not who we are as Americans. After all, most of these immigrants have been here a long time. They work hard, often in tough, low-paying jobs. They support their families. They worship at our churches."
Everybody in the world, are you paying attention? Our immigration laws don't really apply to you if you overstay your visitor visa, as long as you work hard, feed your family and go to church.
And, of course, we all know that the only alternative to Obama's plan is to have mass roundups and mass deportations. Thanks, Mr. President, for showing you are as good at false dichotomies as the pollsters for most of the mainstream media.
HERE'S THE DEAL
Deep into the speech, we finally got what the President described as his "deal," although it began as a "thing:"
"Now here's the thing: we expect people who live in this country to play by the rules. We expect that those who cut the line will not be unfairly rewarded.

So we're going to offer the following deal: If you've been in America for more than five years; if you have children who are American citizens or legal residents; if you register, pass a criminal background check, and you're willing to pay your fair share of taxes -- you'll be able to apply to stay in this country temporarily, without fear of deportation. You can come out of the shadows and get right with the law. "
So, the President makes our ears feel warmed with the sound of justice when he says those who cut in line will not be unfairly rewarded. But then doesn't he immediately spell out a pretty amazing reward?
Still, the focus groups apparently said to put that phrase into a sentence and American voters will be too stupid to notice that the deal you are describing is really just your giving a reward. If you've broken immigration laws or identity theft laws or employment laws for at least five years, you qualify for the deal.
Oh, and you have to promise to pay taxes in the future. I guess that is quite a compromise if somebody was proposing that breaking immigration laws should qualify you to live in the United States and never have to pay taxes.
"That's what this deal is. Now let's be clear about what it isn't. This deal does not apply to anyone who has come to this country recently. It does not apply to anyone who might come to America illegally in the future. It does not grant citizenship, or the right to stay here permanently, or offer the same benefits that citizens receive -- only Congress can do that. All we're saying is we're not going to deport you."
Uh, oh. This is awkward. ALL that you're saying?
"All we're saying is we're not going to deport you."

Wasn't this the place to say something more like, "All we're saying is we're not going to deport you, AND you get work permits to compete for nearly any U.S. job and you get Social Security numbers, and maybe a few other things, too."
Cue the music: "All we are saying, is give truth a chance."
Oh, but it got so much worse. For those of us who were sentient adults in the early 1970s, we know that when a President says, "I am not a criminal . . . or a king . . . or an emperor," you just know that somehow the English language is probably being twisted.
1984
"I know some of the critics of this action call it amnesty. Well, it's not. Amnesty is the immigration system we have today -- millions of people who live here without paying their taxes or playing by the rules, while politicians use the issue to scare people and whip up votes at election time."
Hmmmm, so the 5 million people who the President spent most of his speech lauding are people who have NOT been playing by the rules and -- apparently the worst offense of all -- not paying taxes. To not make them legal (and not give them work permits, although that was supposed to be a secret) would be to give them amnesty, don't you see?
But the President is going to make them pay for their rule-breaking by . . . well, by paying taxes. But only future taxes and not any back taxes.
Again, we should all pat ourselves on the back. Through the years, we have been so successful in helping the American people see the gross injustice of amnesty that the chief supporters of it have had to re-define it.
Speaking of re-definitions:
"What I'm describing is accountability -- a commonsense, middle ground approach: If you meet the criteria, you can come out of the shadows and get right with the law. If you're a criminal, you'll be deported. If you plan to enter the U.S. illegally, your chances of getting caught and sent back just went up."
I think he may be into re-defining "middle ground" as well as "accountability."
Since the President didn't happen to mention the millions of new work permits, it was easier for him to dismiss the economic concerns of ordinary Americans:
"I know that some worry immigration will change the very fabric of who we are, or take our jobs, or stick it to middle-class families at a time when they already feel like they've gotten the raw end of the deal for over a decade. I hear these concerns. But that's not what these steps would do. "
I heard almost no signal that our President believes that nations have immigration laws to protect the interests of its citizens. Nor did I hear that anybody other than a bad criminal doesn't deserve to live here, regardless of whether they are invited.
"Are we a nation that tolerates the hypocrisy of a system where workers who pick our fruit and make our beds never have a chance to get right with the law? Or are we a nation that gives them a chance to make amends, take responsibility, and give their kids a better future?"
Note to the rest of the world: Pay a drug cartel to smuggle you here. Or violate the promises you made in getting your visitor visa. All will be forgiven if you work in agriculture or the hospitality industry.
And finally we got the big emotional finish to the speech that summed up the Presidential speech writers' idea of what it means to be an American:
"Scripture tells us that we shall not oppress a stranger, for we know the heart of a stranger -- we were strangers once, too. My fellow Americans, we are and always will be a nation of immigrants.

"We were strangers once, too. And whether our forebears were strangers who crossed the Atlantic, or the Pacific, or the Rio Grande, we are here only because this country welcomed them in, and taught them that to be an American is about something more than what we look like, or what our last names are, or how we worship.

"What makes us Americans is our shared commitment to an ideal -- that all of us are created equal, and all of us have the chance to make of our lives what we will. That's the country our parents and grandparents and generations before them built for us. That's the tradition we must uphold. That's the legacy we must leave for those who are yet to come."
According to the Rev. Obama, doing anything other than allowing illegal migrants to remain in a country (and giving them work permits, if you are in on the secret) would be oppressing them, I guess.
And, I'm trying to follow the logic of the focus group leaders and the speech writers: Because nearly all of us Americans have ancestors who were immigrants, we do not have the right to regulate the number of people who can immigrate in the future or to enforce the rules for those who disobey the rules. That would betray our heritage.
Apparently, Americans are the only people in the world who believe in equality and the chance to "make of our lives what we will." So, anybody in the world who believes in equality and wants to "do it myyyyyyyyy way" is by definition an American and ought to have the right to live here?
After all, "THAT'S THE TRADITION WE MUST UPHOLD. THAT'S THE LEGACY WE MUST LEAVE FOR THOSE WHO ARE YET TO COME."
I sort of apologize for being so sarcastic. But I am so offended that the President and his team think we Americans are so stupid that they don't have to include any logic in this speech. I don't really believe that this President thinks we should have open borders. But I can't find anything in his speech that tells me what our immigration system is supposed to do or how it would work.
AND WHY DID THE PRESIDENT AND HIS TEAM THINK HE SHOULD GO TO SUCH GREAT LENGTHS TO CONCEAL THOSE TWO WORDS . . .

Obama Announces Sweeping Executive Amnesty;
Congress Must De-Fund Now!
Dear James,
Last night, President Obama announced an unprecedented rewriting of immigration laws by executive decree! And despite the President’s claim that his actions are not an amnesty, they will result in green cards and citizenship for many of the 5 million illegal aliens covered by his orders. Congress must act immediately to stop these lawless executive actions. Your voice is critical.
The core of the President’s plan is to allow approximately 5 million illegal aliens to stay and work in the United States — and receive taxpayer funded benefits — despite federal statutes that require the government to deport them. First, the President has ordered an expansion for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) Program. Second, he has ordered the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to create a new deferred action program for illegal alien parents of citizens and green card holders. Third, the President has ordered DHS to waive the three and ten-year bars to spouses and children of green card holders, meaning these illegal aliens can say in the U.S. and apply for green cards instead of going home.
But not only do the President’s orders allow illegal aliens to stay, they gut future enforcement of our immigration laws. Through policy memos issued last night, the President has unilaterally scrapped Secure Communities, the program that uses fingerprints to identify and remove criminal aliens from state and local jails. He has also — through the rescission of certain Morton Memos — further narrowed Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s enforcement “priorities.” And, his orders clarify that ICE agents will be strictly bound by these new rules.
Finally, like other changes he has made to our immigration system, President Obama has made all these changes to U.S. immigration law through policy memoranda, completely circumventing Congress and the American people. The President justifies his actions by saying he has given Congress time to pass “comprehensive” immigration reform and now it’s time to act. However, the Constitution gives CONGRESS the authority over immigration, not the President. Simply because Congress refuses to pass his agenda, does not mean he gets to unilaterally re-write the law. Even Obama has repeatedly said he does not have the power to act alone on immigration.
We need your help NOW! Congress plans to pass a new government spending bill by December 11th and it must include language that stops the President’s executive amnesty. Call your Members of Congress right now and tell them:
  • You oppose President Obama’s executive actions.
  • Congress must defund all of Obama’s executive actions now.
There is no time to waste!! Most members of Congress are already returning to their districts for Thanksgiving recess, and supporters of the President’s plan hope Americans will be too distracted by the holidays to get involved. That’s why we’re encouraging you to call your members in their home offices. That way, they know you are their constituents and that you care.

Today: GIVE THANKS! You aren't alone. The Obama amnesty work permits can be stopped, says government agency. Look here at many voices from diverse elite circles decrying Obama action. Grassroots opposition has put our allies in a good position for short-term Congress victory in December

THANKSGIVING #1 -- Non-partisan congressional authority confirms Congress can de-fund Obama amnesty, including stopping the use of fees
This is fantastic news and mirrors what NumbersUSA's Director of Government Relations Rosemary Jenks has been saying all along. It means that all of your phoning and faxing the last month has been pushing for something that really IS a solution.
Many open-borders enthusiasts in media and beyond have chuckled for a week that threats of de-funding won't work because the Obama Work Permits would be funded by fees rather than by congressional appropriations. Thus, I've had journalists tell me somewhat gleefully, agencies can spend the fee money in whatever way the President asks them to spend it.
Not so fast. Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) sought an opinion from the authority that Members of Congress have at their disposal: the CRS (Congressional Research Service).
He has released what CRS found. Most importantly:
The money "received as fees by federal agencies must still be appropriated by Congress to that agency in order to be available for obligation or expenditure by the agency.

"The funds available to the agency through fee collections would be subject to the same potential restrictions imposed by Congress on the use of its appropriations as any other type of appropriated funds."
Read more here: https://www.numbersusa.com/news/congressional-analysis-congress-can-de-fund-obamas-executi ve-amnesty
This really only makes sense. If Congress didn't have the ability to control how the executive branch spends fee money, a President could set up one agency after another without any input from Congress as long as the agencies were funded entirely by fees.
THANKSGIVING #2 -- Your hundreds of thousands of individual grassroots actions have pushed House Republicans to the brink of making de-funding possible
I know that you've been bombarded with warnings that House GOP leaders are going to abandon voters and workers and give Pres. Obama a pass (we've sent some of those messages, too).
But be reassured that the momentum has shifted in the direction of carving out part of the spending bills to give Congress a chance early next year to de-fund the Obama amnesty. We'll give you a lot more on this when Congress returns to D.C. next week. We have a lot of work still to do these next two weeks. But don't be so discouraged that you start to give up.
Do your part today to keep the momentum going by making sure you have taken all the actions available on your Action Board: www.NumbersUSA.com/actionbuffet

THANKSGIVING #3 -- We are less than a month away from burying the S. 744 Gang of Eight amnesty forever. An incredible testimony to the power of persistent, systematic, coordinated grassroots action.
Yes, the President's behavior on immigration the last week has been as deplorable and discouraging as it is petulant and vindictive.
But the Obama Amnesty contains only a fraction of the damaging elements that are contained in S. 744. Despite early-2013 media predictions being almost unanimous that S. 744 would become law, it will die as soon as this Congress adjourns.
Why?
More than any other reason, because all of you led the way and modeled the power of a mobilized grassroots expressing opinions one at a time to one Member of Congress at a time through phone, fax, email, town halls and office visits.
All of America -- and all future Americans -- can be thankful to you.
THANKSGIVING #4 -- Tough condemnations of the Obama Amnesty by diverse elites provide much-needed assistance to the grassroots
I have always said that grassroots action alone rarely can be victorious. The general citizenry almost always needs at least a significant minority of elite voices and institutions.
We at NumbersUSA offer the following quotations as a kind of Thanksgiving buffet of treats and delights from politicians, media and academe.
Sure, I know that these are words. I know that some people saying these words have given us good reason to doubt their sincerity.
But it is far easier to persuade an elite to act in the interest of the public if that elite has very publicly indicated he/she would do so -- and if folks like all of us continue to loudly remind them of their strong words.
DAVID B. RIVKIN JR. And ELIZABETH PRICE FOLEY in the Wall Street Journal
Pres. Obama's justification of his actions "endorses a view of presidential power that has never been advanced by even the boldest presidential advocates.

"If this view holds, future presidents can unilaterally gut tax, environmental, labor or securities laws by enforcing only those portions with which they agree.

"This is a dangerous precedent that cannot be allowed to stand."
Mr. Rivkin is a constitutional litigator and served in the Justice Department and White House Counsel's Office in the Reagan and George H.W. Bush administrations. Ms. Foley is a constitutional law professor at the Florida International University College of Law.
http://m.wsj.com/articles/david-riv...amas-immigration-enablers-1416872973?mobile=y
Temple University law professor Peter J. Spiro
"The magnitude and the formality of it is arguably unprecedented. It's fair to say that we have never seen anything quite like this before in terms of the scale."
Shannen W. Coffin, a former Justice Department lawyer
"This action certainly looks a lot more like, 'I'm changing the rules of the game,' rather than 'I'm just choosing not to exercise my discretion,' and that runs counter to Congress's power to decide what the law is. It's highly questionable as a constitutional matter."
Texas Governor-Elect Greg Abbott
"I am prepared to immediately challenge President Obama in court, securing our state's sovereignty and guaranteeing the rule of law as it was intended under the Constitution."
A LOT OF QUOTES HAVE COME FROM PEOPLE WHO IN THE PAST (AND OFTEN THE PRESENT) WANT AN AMNESTY BUT NOT THE WAY OBAMA IS DOING IT. IN THE SHORT-TERM, THEY ARE HELPFUL
Sen. Angus King (a Maine Independent who caucuses with the Democrats) in the Washington Post
"I have grave constitutional concerns about separation of powers that even though the president might be doing something that I think is good policy, it establishes a precedent that essentially moves power from the legislature to the presidency that I think is not in the long-term best interest of the country."
Lawrence O'Donnell on MSNBC's The Last Word asking a Democratic congressman who had no answer to the question
"No one at the White House has been able to give me the legal justification for . . . . (the part where) the President will allow many parents of children who are American citizens or legal residents to obtain legal work documents. Can you tell me and has the White House told you what is the legal justification for the President to create a new category of beneficiaries for work documents? How can that be done without legislation?"
Chris Matthews on MSNBC's Hardball
"The cheap and exploitable jobs are the chief magnet for illegal immigration. This executive order will upgrade that magnet.

"This is the central fact, an executive order by the President will not help fix the failed U.S. immigration law. The only way to do that is by law; law that is passed by the U.S. Congress and signed by the President."
Sen. Joe Donnelly (D-Ind.) in a press release
"The President shouldn't make such significant policy changes on his own."
Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) in Reuters
"I have to be honest, how this is coming about makes me uncomfortable. I think it probably makes most Missourians uncomfortable."
In-coming Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell in the Washington Post
"I think the president will come to regret the chapter history writes if he does move forward. Because the plan he's presenting is more than just, as the president himself has acknowledged, an overreach -- it's also unfair."
Speaker John Boehner in the Washington Post
"Instead of working together to fix our broken immigration system, the president says he's acting on his own. That's just not how our democracy works. The president has said before that 'he's not king' and he's 'not an emperor,' but he's sure acting like one. And he's doing it a time when the American people want nothing more than for us to work together."
Gov. Mike Pence (R-Ind.) in Politico
"Should the president decide to exercise executive authority and overturn American immigration law, (Republicans should use the budget process to) prevent the implementation of policies that are inconsistent with the priorities that were embraced by the vast majority of the country."
Senator-Elect Cory Gardner (R-Colo.)
"While I have long supported overhauling our broken immigration system, I am incredibly disappointed that the President has chosen to circumvent Congress and take action he himself has repeatedly claimed is outside the legal authority of his office.
A FEW OF THE MANY QUOTES FROM OPPONENTS OF AMNESTY
Reps. Ted Poe (R-Texas) and Diane Black (R-Tenn.) in The Hill publication
They introduced legislation to prohibit funding to implement President Obama's executive action on immigration, The Separation of Powers Act.
"This legislation will allow Congress to exercise its 'check' on an out-of-control White House that treats the Constitution as a mere suggestion, not the law of the land," Poe said.

"My colleagues and I will explore our options to stop this overreach and restore the proper Constitutional balance to our government -- this legislation is an important start," Black said.
Senator-Elect David Perdue (R-Ga.)
"As part of the new Senate majority, I will fight to hold the Obama Administration accountable when they overstep their authority and work through Congress to fix our broken immigration system with step-by-step reforms, not sweeping actions that don't solve the underlying problem."
Senator-Elect Tom Cotton (R-Ark.)
"Immigration was a central issue in my campaign. I won by 17 points. The American people have spoken loudly about the kind of immigration reform they want, and it is not what the president is proposing."
HAPPY THANKSGIVING. Let us be grateful for our constitutional system that has allowed us to have this much influence thus far.

Let us be grateful for each other. We are powerless by ourselves or in small disconnected or disorganized groups. We gain not only power but confidence in knowing that throngs of fellow citizens across the country are magnifying our voice every time we speak up.

Let us be grateful for those national leaders who have truly pledged to fight for the America worker and taxpayer and without whom we would have little chance of success.

Let us not be discouraged that we face threats to much that we hold dear. Doesn't every generation face some threat of this type? We are fortunate to live in a land where we have so many tools and so many avenues to respond to these threats.

Be not discouraged but instead be encouraged in the midst of all these reasons for gratitude.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING,

roy beck, Numbersusa president

A little something for all you Romney supporters,

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Govern...ould-Swallow-Hard-Pass-Permanent-Amnesty-Bill

I'm not big on anti-immigration, so this is one of the few things I agree with Romney on. Let them work, pay taxes, as log as they can pass a back ground check. Then illegals would be easier to catch at the borders, cause only criminals would be crossing illegally. Free market solutions, are often better and always cheaper than big government solutions. And for all you guys whining about them stealing jobs, that's free market capitalism, fuck you if you can't compete.

It's cool if you disagree with me roadreeler, but free market economist agree with me. Immigration is awesome for free markets, just read Hayek and Friedman, two of the biggest free market economist of our time. The US has an entitlement problem, not an immigration problem.
