Yankees’ Randy Levine ‘surprised’ by Anthony Fauci’s hopeless sports forecast

Dr. Anthony Fauci discussed the possibility of having to cancel the entire MLB season Wednesday. Yankees president Randy Levine isn’t giving up, saying he believes everybody with a stake in Major League Baseball getting its season started should cooperate with each other.

Fauci, the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, told the New York Times, “Safety, for the players and for the fans, trumps everything. If you can’t guarantee safety, then unfortunately you’re going to have to bite the bullet and say, ‘We may have to go without this sport for this season.’ I would love to be able to have all sports back. But as a health official and a physician and a scientist, I have to say, right now, when you look at the country, we’re not ready for that yet.”

Levine reacted on Fox News Radio’s “The Brian Kilmeade Show.”

“I really believe everybody should just work together to do this. I was kind of surprised this morning when I saw one story about Dr. Fauci where he said that now he doesn’t — he thinks some sports might not play till next year, but last week on the YES Network, he said that — quite the opposite,’’ Levine said.

“He [Fauci] said that he, like the governor [Andrew Cuomo], would like to see games with fans in the seats … — I’m sorry, with no fans in the seats and there — if there is mitigation, possibly, depending on conditions on the ground, fans in the seats. So I mean it’s confusing, and that’s why all of us with good intentions have to come together, need to come together and put a plan together that works.”

Recently, Fauci said the coronavirus will dictate the decision to start the season.

“It’s going to be the virus that determines what the timetable is because if we get the virus under really good control, it is conceivable that you may be able to have some baseball with people practicing physical separation,’’ Fauci said. “Namely, you don’t pack a stadium.’’

As for injured outfielder Aaron Judge, Levine said his fractured top rib on the right side is progressing.

“He’s getting better. He’s getting much, much better. Last I looked he was healing really well, but I haven’t gotten a report in I would say in about a week, but he’s feeling very good,’’ Levine said of Judge, who is rehabbing in Tampa.

Randy Levine shouldn't be surprised with Fauci getting all his prognostications wrong, & giving out bad advice on what to do.

Will tell you all right now Fauci said that because of what happened in Italy.

And he’s right. There was ONE game that they refer to as “game zero.” Atlanta vs Valencia.

All it took was that one game on February 19th to kill 25k+ in Italy. It spread like wildfire after that one game.

I am sure Fauci probably means no games with fans all year. Which makes sense. But then comes into question do the owners want to put on entertainment with no fans at games spending money

Ha ha! I’ll go a step further and compare him to the 2017 Cleveland Browns.

And even that’s being generous.

I will go with expansion Bucs. They lost a lot of games to start with
