He lost a DVD -$14
Counterfeit $100 -$100
Gave $81 change -$81
-$195

If the store owner starts the day with $500 in the till, gets the fake $100,changes it with the other owner, puts that $100 in his till, he then has $600. $95 walks out the door with the thief, till is at $519, $100 goes back to other store, till at $419, started at $500. He's out $81 and the DVD.

$95

This isn't clipjoint or pokerking accounting, you have to pay back what you owe in this example.

Haha

But the example said that he didn't have enough change.
$100 bills laying around is not the correct amount but it is enough.

$195
The $81 he gave to the hornbag, the $100 he gave to the other store, and the $14 value of the midget porn DVD

He got $100 good money from the other store. The good and bad $100 bills cancel out.

$95
The thief gained
:+$14 DVD + +$81 in change = +$95
The store owner lost all of that +$95

The lender gave $100 in change, received a counterfeit $100 ($0), and then received $100 real.
:-$100 + $0 + +$100 = $0
The store owner lost the countefeit bill, and then the real $100 to this guy

So that's $195 total.

No loss there.

yeah, my bad

it's $95

Got "$100" from the guy, he's not out any more after getting change, since he still has $100, gives $81 and the $14 DVD to the guy, then has to pay the store $100.

+100-81-14-100 = -95

who cares what he has in the drawer before

19 dollar cd which he has 14 invested into it,

gets a $100 in which he owes $81 in change, goes next door and trades $100 bill for $100 in change, gives $81 cash to the customer so right there the customer walks out of the store with $81 cash and $14 worth of a dvd totalling $95

the store next door calls and says the $100 bill is fake, he has to take over $100 to the guy next door but there is a problem...if he didnt have the money to give change for $81, how in the hell is he going to give the guy next door the $100 in exchange for the fake bill....he doesnt have that much money in the drawer..

Because if he had enough change in the drawer before, he wouldn't have had to have his neighbor break the counterfeit $100.

He could have several $100 bills already.

Say he had two 50's...he couldn't give $81 change with it, but could pay someone $100 with it

You can't make up stuff like this.

If he had this extra money laying around, whose to say that he wouldn't have exchanged one of his own AUTHENTIC $100 bills that he had laying around.

And then no one, but the customer, would have ever known that the customer's bill was counterfeit.

ok, saying that is the case, then the customer walked out the door with $95 including the cost of the DVD to the store owner... he then had to pay back another $100 to the store next door, in which he got his "fake" $100 back, so now you have to find out what he did with that fake $100

Ohh shit, it is $95. That's what I got first, but I changed it after reading all the responses. My math even proved $95, but I said $195 for some reason. I also figured $195 was wrong after olddirtyku posted $195 because he was wrong in the other thread too. The guy is like a doctor or a lawyer and he can't do simple math.

If he reported it to Police, they confiscate it, if not he has the fake $100 which he can try to pass somewhere else if he wants to risk that. Police would turn it over to Feds.
