Another horse dies at Santa Anita, one day after the main track reopens

I dabble in the horses for fun now and then, but I have a couple acquaintances that are every-dayers, and they were saying the exact same thing.

living in ky we’ve had horses for years, as an owner I couldn’t imagine working a horse there much less putting it in a race. unfortunately the sa derby is coming up this weekend so i’m sure there will be some derby horses running. hopefully everything turns out ok.

every body in the horse racing world knows its a parking lot, ie.. concrete.
baffert wants speed favoring tracks and fast times

That is true about Santa Anita. Their times are always the fastest in the country. I always assumed it was because the heat and dry weather dried the surface out. The same thing happens in the summer at Saratoga.

I always like it when the track gets lightening fast because the speed horses get the advantage. And I'm a pretty good speed handicapper.

But Santa Anita has been that way forever. Why the break down problems now?

I was watching live as well I had the other horse who got taken out, fortunately she survived. She was running against the boys and is a 1 run closer would have loved to see her finish bc the pace was ridiculous up front but glad she came out unscathed.

The Wynn is going before the Mass gaming commission for another 2 days then they will decide the fate on their gaming license, hopefully it's just a massive fine like what happened in Vegas with the Encore scheduled to open in less then 3 months. I'm very close about a mile away over in Somerville and plan on spending a lot of time over there I'm sure the sports book will be ridiculous with sports betting about to become legal maybe the rx members here from MA can plan a meetup down the road over there if everything turns out ok with the gaming commission.
