I dislike the ones that expect a tip. The ones that give you a funny look when you color up and leave the table. I actually had one dealer say thanks for the tip as I was leaving the table. I turned around and said kindly to him, you just came to the table two minutes prior, you expect me to tip you for coloring me up after you made me wait for you to shuffle up when I asked to be colored up before you started your shuffle. I then asked him how much should I have tipped him for not dealing me one hand and colored me up only. He had the nerve to tell me $25.

I laughed and stopped at another table and spoke to the pit boss. A real nice lady who took the time to hear me out and agreed with me 100%. She then comped me steak dinner for two that evening and even had the reservation set up for me.

This was at the MGM. Needless to say I never did see that dealer at the MGM ever again and I did look for him.

Another time and this was at the NY NY I was getting my ass handed to me and got a marker not once but twice. I was really pissed and I started making the comeback grinding it out. The dealer says to me, you need to quit while your ahead. I said excuse me, he had the nerve to start giving me statistics of how many people win and how I was bucking the trend and should take my "profits" and run. This was in the VIP area and I had to stand up and I say to him, let me get this straight, I've won a few hands in a row and you think I am up money. Do you see those markers sitting there next to your box. Those are mine, now if you want to make them disappear and have the paper I signed off on ripped up and removed from the system, then I'll leave ahead.

He looked at me and said sir you know I can't do that, I'll be fired. I said to him, then never assume a player is ahead without knowing the situation and if I want stats and facts, I'll go to statistics class.

Needless to say the pit boss a really tall intimidating black man comes over and says is there a problem? I say besides the fact I have two markers out, I am getting my ass handed to me and I have a professional lecturer as the dealer then no everything is fine as can be.

He starts to laugh and says it's not that bad, I'll get you a new dealer and if you're staying here, I'll comp anything you want. Now of course I am not staying there as I am at the MGM. I tell him no I am staying at the MGM. He says tell you what, I'll still comp anything you want. Now they have a really good steak place, I can't think of the name of it, I want to say Gallagher's. It's the place where they show the beef aging outside of the restaurant and so I say ok then, I want comped two nights of dinners at the steak place. He says ok and 5 minutes later he comes over and hands me the stubs. I ended up leaving down but was able to clear 1.5 of my markers that night. I came back and ate steak with my buddy and ended up ahead to make a little profit at NY NY that trip.

I really dislike the NY NY but it was the only place I could find Multi Strike Poker for $5 a line and higher as the starting point. I hit for 30K on the machine and you know how it goes, everyone that comes to take care of you has a hand out wanting a piece. Well I did them one better and asked for a check as I didn't want to carry 30K around. It took some time to get it done but it was done.

Yes I do. I am a generous tipper. I'll even ask the dealer if they get to keep all the tip or if it's pooled. Those that keep the tips they earn get more from me. I'll tip even when I am losing. I understand they aren't the reason I am losing. It's either the cards or my own stupidity.

I hate when people blame the dealer for their losses, they are just card flippers and exchangers of casino currency. Depending on the situation, I'll say something. Now if it's 3 big guys that would beat my ass, I don't say anything over the top but just tell them, you could be the one back there and the same results would be happening. They tend to shut up or agree and apologize.

We've all run into those types of players, I admit when I was younger and stupid not that I am any smarter now but I did that same type of poor behavior. I just blame myself now, because if I lose it is my fault, I know when I should get up and leave even if ahead.

id never come out and ask a player for a tip like that, but you would be shocked by how many players lie about how much they are up or down to avoid tipping. cant tell u how many times ive dealt in high limit and someone has 400 in front of them and then colors up for 2200 and doesnt tip shit saying ohhhh im back to even on the day finally. they leave the floor comes over and asks what they cashed out for if they just auto oked the send out from the other side of the room. i say 2200 and they start typing it in and i ask them what they were in for and it will be some bull shit like 700. so you actually made like 1500 on the day, but didnt want to tip bc your a cheap ass.

cant tell you how many regulars there are who play 6-8 hrs a day multiple times a week and never give you a dime whether they are losing or winning. its just like going to a restaurant everyday, sitting in the same waitresses table, working her and then never tipping her. like were suppose to be happy to see you or some bull shit, you got money to bet $50 a hand and play for hrs, you have money to tip too. now i understand if you get your ass handed to you or the dealer has no personality robot dealer etc, but to act like your down on the day and cant tip nothing if i was fun, friendly, and you made money during my time is like not tipping a waitress bc your dinner suck the other day, but you still had to pay for it, has nothing to do with me

I always Tip when I Win, and probably about 50% when I lose. ( it depends how bad I'm losing )

I will also Tip as I'm winning... and then Tip again when I cash out.

Hey Kidman.
Have you ever estimated how much a $1 tip actually finds your paycheck?

If you have 20 dealers in the pool I guess this would come out to about 5 cents of every dollar.

I am a very good tipper btw so what im about to say has nothing to do with avoiding tips.

I just find it strange that a single dealer gets so emotional over a tip when he or she is only going to see 5% of that tip if they are lucky.

What happens at your table has such a small effect on your take home pay its almost not worth getting emotional about it.

If I was a dealer and I was dealing to table full of cheap stiffs that dont tip it really would not bother me as long as I knew you had a rich drunk NBA player 2 tables over tossing out hundred dollar bills like they were going out of style.

Who gives a shit about the losers at my table if that is going on.
Because thats almost meaningless in the grand scheme of things.

BTW, if I was a dealer I would absolutely hate the pool system.
I think every dealer should keep 100% of everything they earn.

well in a vegas setting where you have alot more volume and higher stakes it probably doesnt matter as much, but in smaller cities it can have a huge impact on dealers paychecks. i dont think its some crazy idea to expect $5 from each player per hr of play at a game. i cant tell you how many people dont come close to that number and that number is so small.

as for each dealer keeping their own, there are games that hardly ever generate tips and nobody would want to deal that game ever if they were keeping for themself. pai gow, let it ride, texas shootout, and even mini bac are normally pretty shitty return games for dealers and often full tables

Instead of pooling the tips pool the games instead.

Let your very best dealers share the very best tables.
This will give the lesser dealers incentive to raise there ability level and customer service so they can deal the high dollar blackjack.

Make the dealers that get bad evaluations deal let it ride.
Reward the good dealers with the good tables.

A bad dealer that is rude does not deserve the same tip as the great dealer with impecable customer service.

alot of that is subjective, if i deal to an all asian table and clean them out, i could be nice, friendly etc and they can still be cussing me out and talk about how horrible of a dealer i am, where as you throw someone back their that speaks their language and they are giggling non stop. its next to impossible to keep your own tips outside of working in a poker room, the logistics are just too hard. believe me, as a dealer you know when you have done your job and when your getting fucked over by a customer. if you want to weed out an unfriendly dealer i guess you could speak to the floor etc and let them know that person doesnt fit in with the rest etc and maybe they will work with them or replace them if the problem persists, but 90% of the players decided how good of a dealer you are by whether or not they win with you or not.

alot of indian casinos charge you a fee per hand, like .25 cents per hand in blackjack, if they did something like that and it went to the dealers in some % i wouldnt say shit about getting tipped lol. thats probably the best way to fairly distribute the cost out

Lol

I will hollar 22 a lot and try to distract the dealer when they are drawing 3 cards or more. Lol. Had it work a few times

niiiiice !

The only problem is that I would think you have to seem sincere. I think it would be hard to sincerely act like I couldn't count. But I do like the angle. Not every time, nor every session. But a player tool nonetheless. I like it !

It's even worse at the Wynn where the dealers have to share their tips with the pit bosses. I still don't really understand the logic behind that decision. If you're going to do that, then you may as well include all waitresses, maintenance men, landscapers, chefs, bell boys, etc in the tip sharing.

As far as tipping, I always play a number of hands for the dealer on top of mine if I'm winning. It's a fun way to interact with them and just good karma in general. I saw one guy win four grand once and he didn't leave a penny, even though the dealer helped him a lot along the way. That's just acting like an incredibly huge prick IMO.

Regarding annoying things dealers say, I'll never forget one episode at the Hard Rock in Vegas. Some older dealer with gray hair was whipping out the blackjack cards, and there was one player who didn't know what he was doing. The dealer was showing a 6, and the guy's friends talked him into doubling his 8. The dealer literally says out loud something along the lines of "what a stupid decision...you shouldn't be allowed to even play if you're considering something like that." He went on to belittle every decision by every player he disagreed with. Not long after, I just got up and found another table. Didn't like his vibe, and you just can't openly belittle customers like that. Looking back, I wish I would have said something to one of the pit bosses. That was way out of line for a dealer to act like that.

I don't play the tables... but I watch.

When the dealers asks "Insurance"... when no one will ever take it.

Do any of you take insurance if you are sitting on 20?
Never.

As for annoying dealers I would have to say "Thanks for playing" is the one that gets me especially if I just got felted.
