Yeah I guess that number makes sense then. Just seems wild to me. Think he is arguably not a top 5 player

There is a difference between absolute value/floor raising and adding value to a good team though. If a scorer goes down, if you got other guys who can score, it hurts your team a lot but you just can't really sink as low as if your defensive centerpiece goes down and you have no one else on the roster remotely capable of doing what he can do.

AD anchors the defense and is basically involved in every single play on that end of the court. If he dies and you have basically no one to replace him (Drum, Gasol, Harrell), well you might lose the next 2.5 games by 70 points.

I think Giannis is more the 2nd category than the 1st. Everything the Bucks do defensively/transition is geared around him. He also scores without plays being called for him, something perimeter players can't really do as much. If you're replacing him on D with Portis/Forbes that could get ugly.

It is just 3 games and Hawks have tons of health issues too but that's how I'd think of Giannis as closer to AD than say Kawhi or Harden or Trae where they go down and the team is definitely worse but if other capable guys shoot more you can be fine over a small sample.

This is easy to say now, but none of the guys that have gotten hurt surprise me much when taken 1 by 1.

Giannis works so hard on both ends and in transition, nothing he does on the court is easy. Every bucket he gets he works for and he's everywhere on defense. Then he pushes in transition and he's almost 7 feet tall. All those long strides, I've been expecting him to die for awhile.

Embiid torn meniscus and he played through it. He's like 50/50 to be healthy any given postseason. Body just has issues.

Irving and Davis have been getting hurt forever and AD had a really short offseason, neither 1 of those is very surprising at all. Irving has been hurt during the postseason 4 of the last 7 years.

Harden has been healthy his whole career but he has also had an unreal workload the last 6 years and never gets hurt. He turns 32 in a few months, not surprised he finally had an injury either.

Kawhi play seemed flukey, can't say too much on that.

Young stepped on a refs foot, that is also just a flukey play.

I actually don't think the shortened offseason has that much to do with it, although I can't prove it. I just think the modern game you just gotta move so much with all the pace, bodies can give out easier.

I'm amazed these guys don't get hurt more often. Look at the T Young and K Irving plays. It's amazing to me there aren't more rolled ankles, especially when jumping and landing all the time.

Same type of thing with Giannis and Embiid. When these goes go up high full speed and make contact in the air with defenders who knows how they will land. With I guy like Embiid who is injury prone, I hate seeing him running full speed to try to make a chase down block from behind. I hold my breathe every time, it's just not worth it 99% of the time to save the two points. Sure, maybe at the end of a playoff game, but not during a regular old game. Giving 100% all the time is highly overrated and causes a lot of injuries.

Giannis seems indestructable. Always taking huge steps in traffic, going up high. Always lands fine somehow, until he doesn't.

Just amazing to me these guys don't get more leg injuries.

Yeah, I say in post #12 the line won’t move that much because Trae is also injured.

Game 6 would be a more straight comparison if both are out again.

I also said hawks should be favored in the series, that was just spitballing after the game but that won’t happen. I wasn’t really taking into consideration hawks are devalued as well.

If young were healthy then I think they would be favored but not with him hurt too.

But if Giannis is done for the series, I’ll probably like the hawks. Don’t see the bucks being able to put it together like the clippers have.

these players are worth about 0.5 to 1 pts, but they charge you 5 or 6 points, its so laughable, trae young is a cancerous punk, i knew atl would be better without him

Wow such a great opportunity to exploit .
Have you made millions on this loophole yet ?

except for maybe the 2019 Raptors.

And how often does a team like the Raptors win an NBA title? Almost never. For years the NBA has been very predictable for the most part. It's usually 2-3 teams from each conference that you can pencil into the Finals every year. And almost every year you get one of those matchups.

I think it's kind of cool/refreshing to see 4 teams in the Conference Finals that are somewhat new blood. No matter what the circumstances are/were for that to happen.

100% agree

Its nice to not see the same teams over and over again as the product was getting stale. NBA finals were only fun to watch if 1) your favorite team was playing or 2) you HATE a team playing

These games are enjoyable and i really dont care who wins. Just rooting for whoever i'm wagering on and enjoying myself

Just look at the Clippers. They are down a top 5 NBA player. And they are scrapping tooth and nail to get to the Finals. And despite being down 3-1 at one point, they probably outplayed PHX in 3 of those games.

That series has been a throwback physical NBA playoff war. And despite the horrible officiating, I think it's been a very exciting series to watch.

I think you're about right from a power rating perspective. But, I can't see them actually hanging ATL +14 if Giannis were healthy and Young were out in a playoff game.

DK paid out the Giannis Double-Double Boost bet as a winner.

That was pretty nice of them.

Injuries are getting to be the big (biggest?) issue in all major sports, covid aside, teams are decimated, knocked out of contention all the time.

Bet on a game, the injuries are a large factor, sometimes the most important.

Super Bowl I took the correct side with Mahomes hobbling and the KC OL in shambles, but I was on the wrong side of a lot of games with injuries in the mix.

Discouraging, sick of it.
