Well they do make some money on my W2G's. At a few Indian casinos and pokerooms, they give you a W2g, but dont take out the taxes.

But that is what the 10%ers are for at the casino

Why would I pay a penalty SHDW? I mean, when people get refunds, it isnt really a refund at all.

All it amounts to is an overpayment of taxes. Basically they allowed the government to make interest off of their money when they could have made interest on the money if they are responisble

Because if you really owed $20,000 on average per year, the IRS charges a failure to correctly estimate tax correctly. You should be making estimated tax payments or decreasing your withholding like Shdw said. There is no way you haven't been charged a penalty if what you are saying is true. When you say you are paying $10 to $20k per year, is that what you have had deducted throughout the year or is that the amount you write a check for come April 15?

And yes, people who get refunds are letting the government use their money. On the other hand the government charges you for not letting them use the money to which they were entitled thru the year.

How can you have owed for 12 years and not known this?

PO another thread for you gone terribly wrong.

You tried to be a big shot and talk about how much you owe and come out looking like a goof ass again.

You aint a doctor as you cant practice. So where do you get your money from gambling (truly laughable), your dad send you checks(possible), you a fry cook...

What "job" do you have the pushes you into such a high tax bracket sir?

If he's self-employed, or otherwise doesn't have taxes deducted from his paycheck, then $10,000 really isn't that much, considering self-employment is somewhere around 27%....that would mean he makes roughly $40,000...but as many have pointed out, he really should be filing quarterly if that's the case.

I set my deductions so that I get more money in my check each week and dont get anything back and not owe anything come tax time.

I dont understand why EVERYONE doesnt do it. Why give the government a no interest loan? Why not take your money throughout the year and pay off debt or invest it?

Go get a W-4 and change your dedections people. www.irs.ov has calculators so you can figure out how many you can take.

Im self employed(mostly) as well and have been 14 years.

If his wife is make 74 and he is making 40 no way hes paying out 30k.

Who said that I am making $40,000?? I can assure you that it is more than that.

But I meant that collectively we owe $10,000-20,000 a year. But of course she does take taxes out of her check. But she doesnt take very much out that is for sure. This year, we may change that though. But we save cash throughout the year to pay the taxes
