I had Ole Miss/Ark teased up to 56.5 playing the UNDER two week ago. It's 17-17 with about 30 seconds left when the wife sees me pulling for a score and says "don't worry that's a lock now honey, no way could it go OVER". First, I never tell her my bets but this was a big play for me and my brother-in-law and it did look good before they tied the game up. Second she doesn't understand how college football overtime works, she thought it was like the pros. I thought to myself facetiously they'll score 100 points now. Final score 58-56 Arkansas. Needless to say I am 0-233 when anyone within 100 miles of me declares that I have a lock. Anyone know a good divorce lawyer?
Also probably not many can identify with this one unless you play poker, but playing in a Texas Hold 'Em tournament I'm down to the final table when I pick up Ace - King. The flop comes Ace - Ace - King. I have a lock, Aces full of Kings with only two cards to come. After succesfully slow-playing the hand to keep a few guys in the pot, the last two cards come deuce - decue. Of course the guy has a pair of deuces in his hand. Four deuces beat Aces full of Kings. Not only did I lose all my chips in the hand and eliminate myself, if it wasn't a tournament I would have won the "bad beat" jackpot that was over $63,000 for getting beat by 4 of a kind. I never even bothered to pick up my check for finishing 8th in the tournament I was so pissed. /infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif
