Hahaha... I so much pity all the American and Canadian guys who have no idea about this sport.
I remember in the first few years when I was here I had many "fights" with friends and co-workers about football (soccer) vs American sports.
One thing almost all those who have no idea about this sport said is that it is not a real contact sport, not masculine enough, and Americans like only those sports. Well, this is the most ridiculous argument ever...
Have you guys ever watched replays from the game? Have you seen the rock hard tackles, falls, head clashes those players are having, everything in full high speed, and all that without almost any protection equipment - unless you consider those small shin pads they have?
Compare this with the "armour" the American football players have on.

Played organized soccer. Never played organized football.
Son plays organized football from 7 years old to his current HS.
I coached 5 years soccer, 5 years football (assistant not head).
I have watched soccer. I watch alot of football.
No comparing the two regarding roughness/toughness, that's just silly. ESPECIALLY at the PROFESSIONAL levels

The flopping in soccer is beyond ridiculous, but I sttill love the sport. I played from 5 though adult years and never once "flopped." It's sad flopping has become such a part of the game. It makes them look like little bitches. I'd be embarrassed if I were them. I can still watch soccer all day, everyday, though.
