Hondo Winner

Who the hell is HONDo. checked my TVG account, liked the times for sprint queen as well and the 5-1 shot is a winner.

Hondo

Oakland's Huston Street turned yesterday into the Boulevard of Broken Dreams for Hondo, who closed out the first half by dropping one-runners with the A's and O's to reduce the earnings to 425 shoemakers.

Today, he moves from the diamond district to the turf at Philly Park, where Anthony Affrunti, the Post's Puny Pony Picker (if that darn diet ever works), is urging a five-unit win play on Sprint Queen in the seventh and a two-unit exacta box of Sprint Queen and Dixieland Knockout.

SA Silver Stars vs. LA Sparks
Play: SA Silver Stars

The Los Angeles Sparks hope that a return home can help solve their latest struggles. The Sparks were the WNBA's hottest team to begin the season, winning 10 of their first 13 games. They have since dropped five of their last seven, including the last two by 18 points each.

Getting back in the win column however will not be an easy task with the San Antonio Silver Stars paying a visit. The Silver Stars have won seven straight behind the duo of Becky Hammon and Sophia Young. The Silver Stars took the first meeting between the two back on June 20th in San Antonio 77-75, leading by as many as 18 and despite being outrebounded by 10 before the Sparks stormed back in the second half. In fact the Silver Stars have won the last four and five of six between the two clubs.

The Silver Stars are 6-1 ats in their last 7 games against a team with a winning record. The Sparks however are just 3-8 in their last 11 with the chalk of 0.5-4.5 pts. The Silver Stars come into this game with the confidence and ablility to get it done on the road. They have had recent success against this team and should be in position late, to steal another one.Play on the San Antonio Silver Stars for 1 unit.

just an idea but maybe it be a good time to figure out who the better football services are.. only a few weeks away!

I don't know who's good on the RX but RUSH from across the streets does real well in both pro and college football and it's free. He hits 60% or better and play a good amount of games to keep a lot of bettors satisfy. BTW which service is good with football, I have never deal with football service before.

i went to usasportsmonitor .net and zeus decisions has done well last 2 nfl seasons. their picks are legit as they are posted 15 minutes after start of game.

Just checked it out and records looks good but bad thing about them is that package owners still have to pay for their special plays which I'm sure they will release alot of to make that extra cash.

NATIONAL LEAGUE +134 v. American League (Any pitchers)

Comments:
NATIONAL LEAGUE +134 v. American League (Any pitchers)
Plus 134? We'd take either side at +120 or more, for sure.
Notice there is no way to handicap this game. It is obvious that this line has to be predicated on nothing but gamblers' opinions. Prejudices.
We have no clue as to which team figures to win this game. Neither does anyone else. It seems obvious to us that this game is a 50-50 proposition. Take the +120 or more and run, win or lose.

Good luck. - J. R. Miller

Hondo

Hondo asks that all residents of HondoNation join him in giving a shoutout to Anthony Affrunti, the Post's Puny Pony Picker (if that darn diet works), who sent Mr. Aitch to the winner's circle yesterday with Sprint Queen in the seventh at Philadelphia Park. Although the exacta box with Dixieland Knockout was KO'd, the earnings still ballooned to a crisp 560 callisons.

Today, he'll go with his traditional 10-unit play on the American League in El Bronx. Also, Affrunti, who's feeling his oats, is urging more action at Philly Park with Ironton to win in the seventh (five units), Hi Beau tiful to win in the ninth (five units) and a Hi Beautiful- Saltish exacta box in the ninth (two units).

STAN THE MAN

2008 MLB ALL-STAR GAME PREDICTION
TUESDAY, JULY 14TH 2008

I have a saying that I generally apply to All-Star games - I am more than happy to handicap them as long as I don't have to watch them. Tuesday's Midsummer Classic at Yankee Stadium is no exception to my rule. I don't get much of a thrill from watching pitchers who are used to pitching six innings at a time trying to get through one with the least effort possible, and I prefer to see guys at least a little disappointed when they strike out. There are odds, though, and that means that this mess of an institution is worth at least a little attention.
______________________________________________________________________________

Here's a shock - the American league is favored this year. Bodog has the AL at -145, while the National League comes in as a +125 underdog. The favoritism is to be expected. After all, the AL has won 10 of the last 11 All-Star Games (the 11th was that ridiculous tie in Milwaukee in 2002, but I'm going to pretend that that never happened). It hasn't ever been particularly close, either - the AL has won by an average of 2.6 runs per game. Things have been closer in recent years, though. The last two years the AL has squeaked through by a single run, and the year before that it was two runs.

The National League may be closing the gap, and the American League is facing a pretty daunting price for an exhibition game, but I just don't see how you can pick against the American League here. Sure, the National League has more power, and they have some real studs throughout their lineup. I just don't think that it is enough for them to overcome the AL. There are at least three good reasons for that:

*History
---------
More so than most situations, what has happened in the past doesn't mean a lot here. Rosters are different every year, and so is the setting and the coaching staff, so every game is essentially a completely unique event. That being said, it's hard to ignore the winning streak the American League is on. I'm not saying that the American League will win because they always win. What I am saying, though, is that the stunning dominance of the American League is a sign of what we pretty much know - the American League is just better right now. Until the National League gives us a reason to believe that they have altered the balance of power then it doesn't make a lot of sense to assume it has changed.

*The Rosters
-------------
The eight NL starters have played in a combined 25 all-star games. The AL starters have already played in 51. That depth of experience alone gives the AL a big edge. Another big edge the AL has is the makeup of the pitching staffs. Because pitchers aren't going to get to pitch for long then pitchers who are used to coming in and being at their best on short notice will be at an advantage. The American League has just six starters on their roster. They also have the five leading pitchers in the league by saves playing for them, and you can throw in Mariano Rivera, playing at home, as well. As long as the starters can get them to the fourth inning the AL should be able to shut the NL bats down. The National League, on the other hand, is way more tipped towards starters. They have eight starters, and two of the top 10 in saves for the league, Jose Valverde and Kerry Wood, will not be playing.

*Interleague Play
------------------
It's not perfect, but the best way we have to see how the two leagues stack up this year is Interleague Play. It won't tell us how these rosters match up, but it will tell us how the leagues compare in general, and it does it over a large sample size. The news isn't good for the NL. In fact, it's bleak. The National League had three teams with winning records in Interleague Play this year. The American league had 11, and a 12th, Seattle, finished at .500. That means that there were only two AL teams - Cleveland and Toronto - who weren't better than the National League teams they faced, while 13 of the 16 NL teams couldn't stack up. There are probably ways you could try to spin this one if you are a fan of the NL, but the fact remains that this is pretty dominant, and the AL has a very obvious edge.

That's how it all boils down. The National League certainly could win this game, but I don't think that there is enough likelihood of that to justify the +125 price. That makes the American League the play.
