Foreman claims he was drugged before the rumble in the jungle, that shortly before the fight he was given a paper cup full of what looked like colored water by his trainer and that he was told it was to keep him from dehydrating and coping with the heat in Zaire. He remembers he almost spit it out and detected a medicine like taste but drank it anyway because he trusted his trainer and by the third round he felt like he was in the fifteenth round. He revealed this in a couple of biographies in his later life. He suspects Don King was behind it ( which isn't crazy since King is such a snake) This calls into question Ali's "brilliant" rope -a-dope strategy to let Foreman tucker himself out when foreman never exhibited stamina problems ever before ( Foreman was even well known for standing in between rounds without ever sitting for a break) Hmm, maybe Ali knew something...

I believe Foreman later admitted that he just got beat.

Nope, he still stands beside the accusation, keep in mind this is not something he said after the fight in a fit over sour grapes but something he talked about in the mid-nineties for the first time then again in 2007 and 2008.

George is a classy guy however and has been super diplomatic and respectful about it even going so far to say he does not think Ali knew about it and always talks about how great Ali is because he does not want to diminish Ali's legacy.. but he does stand behind the claim when directly asked about it

Tyson answers the question to this Thread himself starting at 3:00 minute mark. (He's being nice imo)

So Bourn, do you still think Tyson knocks Ali out, 10 out of 10?

Here's the most detailed and in depth analysis out there that I've seen by the guys at the Bleacher Report. They conclude that Ali would win.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...ian-in-depth-analysis-of-who-would-really-win

You should read the whole article, it's interesting...

Conclusion/Category Breakdown

Tyson was a physical marvel and it shows in the categories that he has over Ali. Tyson is superior to Ali in Power, Speed and Defense. These are all critical components of boxing.
Ali was a more complete warrior than Mike Tyson. As a result he takes home six categories…Style, Chin, Heart, Psychology, Key Losses and Stamina/Endurance.
There is also something else to note. Ali, while inferior to Tyson, was no slouch when it came to power and speed. Tyson, on the other hand, had major deficiencies in chin, heart, psychology and stamina. Any opponent who beat Ali did so in a hard fought battle that went AT LEAST 10 rounds.

  • Frazier won a unanimous decision in 15 rounds.
  • Ken Norton won a split decision in 12 rounds.
  • Leon Spinks won a split decision in 15 rounds.
  • Larry Holmes won a TKO in 10 rounds.
  • Trevor Berbick won a unanimous decision in 10 rounds.
In order for Tyson to beat Ali he’d have to take him down and take him down quick. Some of the best boxers in American history couldn’t do it and Tyson wouldn’t do it either.
This fight would be hard fought for the first few rounds. In round five or six Ali would begin to outclass and frustrate Mike Tyson. Tyson was known to get anxious (as he was known to do) in those middle rounds and take big risks with punches. He’d connect with just enough shots to open himself up for major punishment.
By round 10, Tyson would be clearly outclassed and looking for a way out. He’d get it in the form of a unanimous decision for Ali.
Sorry Tyson fans, its just not in the cards.
DOWN GOES TYSON!

I need at least 8 more lengthy copy and pastes before I can form my own opinion. No wait, that's you.

I hear ya. I'm actually taking an online defensive driving course right now. And I had about 6 Jameson and cokes last night so my attention level is low right now. I'll read it later.

Some of you people remind me of my 80 year old next door neighbor.
The guy is good as gold and I would do anything for the guy but he is one of those people that thinks everything from 50 years ago was better.

If you listen to him talk about baseball he will tell you every hitter back then hit .400 and every pitcher had an ERA of 1.23
