Actually, Pujols didn't come at such a bargain. Right before spring training, he signed a 7-year, 100 million contract. His salary is prorated, like they all are. But he is expensive, very expensive for the Cardinals.

Pujols hits for a higher average and strikes out less.

You won't see him sitting down complaining about a bad hammy like Manny did against the Angels on Sunday.

Bottom line, like Joe Buck said, no worries about signing Pujols to a long term contract and having him slack off.

In Colorado with those three added to Helton, they would score 1200 runs or more! Imagine putting the Card's entire lineup in Colorado. One of these days the Rockies will get it that hitting is their real problem not pitching. Unless they lead the next NL team by 200 runs they won't win any championships. Their ERA will always hover around 5.
