North on US19 into Clearwater, most anywhere north of Sunset Point.......Probably 15-20 min max drive down to Gandy Bridge, Pinellas Cty side

Safety Harbor is same general zone

My wife and I live just off Countryside Blvd/580.....very mainstream whitebread suburbia surrounding a truly thriving large indoor shopping mall and several golf courses.

In all Pinellas County you are a max of seven miles from Gulf of Mexico and/or Tampa Bay (the actual body of water). Major beaches throughout both

U.S. 580 is a direct east/west route that bisects the Gulf on west end and on the east end just above Tampa Bay merges with US590 which runs east across top of the Bay into Tampa for easy airport access etc

Similar access between Pinellas and Hillsborough Cty (Tampa) can be found using Gandy bridge on south, Frankland Bridge (I275), Courtney Campbell Bridge (US60).

The east end of both Campbell bridge and Frankland bridge pretty much converge at TPA (airport)

Most everywhere is within 20-25 min of TPA.....it was a very smartly placed airport

And most everywhere is "safe".

Tampa Bay area of almost 3million people is maybe most mainstream population in USA and violent crime rates are very low.
Too many Liberals from what I hear.

One of my favorite places! You and the Mrs will love it!

I lived here for the better part of 3 years. Excuse the cheesy video

It was completely furnished. It was very comfortable. Can kayak on the bay, have a dog park on site, pools, tennis, people were super nice. But there's just not much immediately around it.

I can't believe how awful their website and online presence is. This place is broken up into two sides, this being the older one. I forget the name of the newer side. But its on the Tampa Bay, it's address is Clearwater which is probably to worst part of it is the immediate surroundings.

We spent a ton of time in both downtown Tampa and Clearwater beach so this made it an easy drive to both. My biggest regret is not moving around more. I would not go anywhere north of clearwater on i-19. get's shitty fast plus 19 is awful to drive. I would also avoid anything West of Tampa just because its far away from the coast, like Brandon

St Pete seems like the cool place to live now, like near the downtown but it also seemed not a great value.

Davies Island looks like a really cool place to live. It's an island right off the downtown area of tampa. Really unique.

I remember a bunch of nice condo's/apts in Rocky point, which is a good location...

There are a lot of new modern apts near University of Tampa and west of that... I would stick to the south of 60 right there, you can go several blocks north but it gets sketchy fast. A lot of this area is considered South Tampa, Hyde Park..

I think this is a decision that youll make once your there and depending what you and the wife like to do. If it's beaches + big city stuff, get into St Pete downtown area... if you want it a little more relaxed, check all the beach towns south of Clearwater Beach, but north of St Pete Beach... If you want a mix that has more of a neighorhood feel, try Davies Island or Hyde Park or South Tampa..

I still come down 2x a year for hockey and beaches, we should meet up next time!

Good Luck!

Thanks for all the help fellas. Wife was offered the job and is accepting. Hasn't been finalized yet, but her agent is in the final stages of negotiations. We are going the burbs route I guess. Looking to rent a 3 bedroom house. We've been paying $1700 a month in rent for the last 3 years, so looking for something in that ballpark. If any of you know of any houses up around Clearwater or that area that was mentioned, please let a brother know!

Random bump, but we ended up living in St Pete. Absolutely loving Tampa/St Pete. Texas will always be home, but we can see ourselves living here for a while. Finally found childcare for my son, so I’ve finally been able to get my career back on track. Unfortunately, the job search isn’t going as well as I would like, but I’m loving this area.

sinkhole issue is a deterrent to many there. something to be aware of. another negative is the race caller at tampa bay downs. the very much liked richard grunder (outside of his race calling) consistently blunders every stretch drive with his inept call.
