Just never take an under in basketball on AP's. It will chew up a lot of bankroll too, if you normally bet say $100 a game and go for action points ..... 30 of them at say $30 a point, that restricts $990 ( the max loss) from your account, kind of a lot considering that the bet is unlikely to lose by more than 5-10 points.

I'd always go for the max points allowed on an over.

Some books killed this option because it wasn't great for them.

Let me ask your opinion on this Doug......

If a player is SO confident in a wager that they are willing to lay a large amount on action points, wouldn't it make more sense to simply bet a larger amount on just the total they feel so strongly about?

not necessarily. You are really hoping for O/T with an AP over....to get those 20

extra points tacked on to it.

Now you could have an NBA game lined at say 180, you might not call the over a 65% type of lock, but you might be 70% certain the game hits at least 170 or so. If the spread isn't huge like 8 or more points, O/T is a reasonable probability. Here a $100 bettor might risk $30 a point on AP's capped at 30 points for $990 risked.

A big bet of $200-300 here might lose by a point or two and hurt, it wouldn't hurt the AP player much, and OT wins $900 or you win big if the game just flies over.

Sucks if the game lands in the 150's, though !

One can really get hurt when a game misses badly.

Really @)@)@)

Yeah we've been battling with them for years. He's old school bookie. No credit limit or anything like that. Once you bet action points with no limit, its hard to stay awake during a regular straight bet.

By no limit, you mean he won't cap what you set the limit at though right? Meaning you can cap yourself at 5 points or 60 points and he doesn't care?

Or are you saying that any action point play is graded as it lands and the only parameter you set is the unit size?

I take it to mean that there is no cap at all and that he just gives the unit size and then settle it by whatever margin the bet wins or loses...which as someone said, could get very messy indeed when you call a game completely wrong !

$tinky: Would you book unlimited action points ? I guess the most a game has ever gone over is maybe 100 points ? under has to be far less, no game could ever go 100 points under, could it ?

How would you play it $tinky when you cross over to playa ?

I think you'd be with me on only over ( never under) and no huge favs, in hoops ?

that is a great way to bet on credit, I wish I could do that !
