Hi Ace-Ace, I always appreciate your posts, as does everyone else, obviously! I'm just curious about you and your background. Where did you grow up? Did you go to college at all? (I'm back at the University of Utah in my mid 30's trying to finish up a degree, arghh, school...go Utes!) You live in Michigan now, right?

Anyway, keep up the good work.

ACE, you linked to this, so I reply here (and bring it back to the present day).

I always say that gambling is the highest path. lol... Because it will bring out every imbalance in ourselves. Many expert gamblers fall by the wayside because they had one character weakness.

In gambling you have to know three things:
1) the sport you bet on
2) money management
3) yourself

GL - ACE. You're a great guy for sharing your insights with all.

Ace,

This is the 3rd or 4th time I read this over the last 2 years. It strike a nerve every time. I can say this might have made me a better person over the last 2 years and might have changed my life as well. I was that person you spoke of and when I read this 2 years ago, I took it in and re read it.
Gambling can consume you in every aspect and it did it to me in the past. And I am sure it has done it to many people in this forum as well. If people could only see what they are missing around them for one second and realize that weekend with the kids or that night out with the wife might not be there if they keep up their ways. The wins and losses will be there whether you or I are in front of the TV, and yelling for our team, but our families might not be.

I keep reading this to help put life and gambling into order.

1. If I lose all my bets can I still enjoy my life that day or will I be miserable.
2. Can I afford to lose all my bets (Bills don't stop and either do the collection calls).
3. If I bet a game why can't I also enjoy my family - they are all we have. Everyone in this forum has some kind of family. Friends are friends but family is most important and ther is nothing more important than watching your kids grow up to be adults in a positive way with a positve role model.
4. Bet less games for less money (win or lose you hopefully won't get killed)

Ace once again, you are a great capper, but more important then the wins and losses is the kindness you show to alot of people. You can't imagine how this might have saved my life. This is a powerful piece and it worked for me. You are a special person.

God bless you Ace Ace, god bless you.

Jags
and by the way thanks for the education

post seems inappropriate to me.i guess you are claiming to have had a part in your friends death/suicide.you booked his bets(illegal and unethical and led to his downfall).then it seems as if you mock your friend for betting too many games.i know you ace lovers will get mad at this post, but it just seems inappropriate.i may have read the post wrong as Ace is difficult for me to follow sometimes.if i read it wrong or misunderstood,i apologize.i don't think any of us here(90%+ betting illegaly)have the right to judge anyone.you guys that make fun of people for betting 30 games on Sat also need to make fun of the great Billy walters.

great post ace, much appreciated.......just remember people just bet what you can afford to lose & don't ever put your family 2nd to gambling you'll regret it forever, the chances of getting rich off of gambling is so slim and it will never replace the love of a child......macher......

Thanks Ace, Nice to see some reality!! Been there back in my younger days, when I had no responsibilities. Losing a few dimes a week and thinking, I just can't have another week like that. Couldn't pick a winner if I had the final score sitting in front of me.Here I am 20 years later and now a bad week for me is 200 small ones.Realizing sometimes the best bet to make is no bet at all. Sometimes reality can be a real kick in the knob! Understanding when to walk away from a bad week and when not to push when you are up HUGH is a good way to survive in the long haul. Sometimes qutting when you are down and paying the man and waiting for a better game to play is how you seperate the winners from the losers. God bless and another Awesome post by ACE. Peace my brother!! :thumbsup2:

I've been viewing this board for a bit now. Was told about this place from my bro-in-law.... who happened to meet Ace-Ace here in Vegas. I must say that Ace is definitely the real deal....

But then I come across this thread and I must say that this story is profound. It also has and will hit many people at the core. We all either have known, know of, or are the person in this story. One must always remember that there are other things in life besides betting..... and that is life itself.

Great story Ace..... mahalo much.

I Dont Understand Why People Dont Go To School Or Maybe Get A Job And Do Something Productive With Their Lives. And Dont Tell Me Some People Just Dont Have As Many Privileges As Others. My Parents Were Born In The Slums Of Africa Where Food And Water Was Considered A Luxury. Somehow, Without A Great Education They Managed To Buy A Home, Take Care Of Their Owns Parents And Send Me To A Private School. How Did They Ever Do That???? Work Hard And Use Your Fuckin Brain. I Am So Sick And Tired Of Listenin To Stories Like This Where We Should Pity These Kinds Of People. Everyone Knows The Risks Of Gambling Coming Into The Game And If You Are Stupid Enough To Get Caught In The Game Its Your Fault.
