To me this is alot of points with a matchup that is very one sided in motivation. Carolina is coming off of a very nice win against Duke and to me this game does not determine alot about their seeding in the big dance. UNC has the mentality that this year is NC or bust so in my mind they are probably not as focused on the task at hand as they would normally be.
I always like to back a team that is getting DD points when they have recently played an opponent closely. VT remembers the gameplan from last week (which was a 1 possession ball game for 34 minutes before the heels opened it up a bit). I just think that VT will have all the motivation in this game. I just do not see Carolina having all that much interest in dominating this game as their eyes are really focused on the big picture.
With the Pitt loss tonight you can pencil in UNC for a 1 seed; either in Greensboro or just down the road. While UNC will probably win I see the hokies being a big thorn in the Heels side tomorrow and I think this game will be closer than the Heels will like. Heels by 5..

Taking the noles here as I just expect the defensive intensity that FSU is bringing is going to force the Wreck into alot of turnovers. They played great against a slumping Clemson team yesterday but imo this is a focused FSU team playing in peak form right now. I like to take a team with better coaching with the best player on the court when I am laying a small number.
Not a big play because the game is in Georgia and GT will have the underdog crowd support and the jackets are playing their best ball of the season. Noles should win by DD but nothing would suprise me here.

Alot of people are raving about the improved defense Duke is playing since starting Eliot Williams but I dont see it. In the last 5 games they are giving up more points (77 to 69) a higher shooting percentage (50% to 45%) getting fewer rebounds (27 to 32) and they have a worse assist/TO ratio (.77 to .7). The Devils are winning because they are doing a great job taking care of the ball (1.38 A/TO ratio in last 5) and getting to the line (28 times a game!). I think both teams will want to run in this game and I don't think either has the defense right now to stop it.
As to the sides I think BC matchups up well with Duke. The Devils are playing well but they arent blowing people out (they have covered this number 1 of the last 10 times, and that was in a game @ maryland that was close the whole way). BC has already beaten this team once and though I think they are are in the dance I expect the Eagles to play with something to prove tonight. I think Duke wins a close one 80-76.

Think the terps are playing some very good ball right now and they just recently played Wake very closely. Big advantage for Maryland in ball handling with only 9 turnovers a game in the last 5 (compared to 16 for Wake).
Styistically both of these teams thrive in transition so there should be alot of back and forth action here. Maryland probably feels they need this game to make the dance (though I think they are in) and should have an inspired effort here.
Big edge to the Deacs on the boards but I like the way Maryland has done with stopping people from getting to the basket with their 3-2 zone that they have deployed lately. I think it will be very effective here it should force Wake to shoot from the outside instead of relying on their paint efforts that have served them so well).
