I kind of knew when I created the thread that a few would nitpick the title.

Cmon you guys get the point.

Almost sounds as if some of you are supportive of it being illegal...

Well, you said you can't bet at your own convenience and freedom from your home, but that's exactly what you do. And you said that you can bet freely anywhere else, but anywhere else includes about 3 countries. So you live in one of about 4 countries where you can do this. Wager away and take Evansville tonight.

Thank Bill Frist the Senate majority leader & from the Evangelical strain of the Republican Party, a guy from Virginia Goodblatte lead the way in the House. I vote Republican but even Obama never did anything as bad a this. They attached the anti-Gambling Bill to a War Appropriation Bill to insure it would pass in 2006 or 2007.

Why was this moved from the main forum? I always get a kick out of the Sign up pages at Books that don't allow sign ups from the US, but allow Iran, Cuba, North Korea, etc.

Yes I know this is old news to all of us but how pathetic is it that we see sports odds daily in virtually every major city-newspaper across the nation, ESPN has daily picks on the spread on their website, and other countries are free to do as they wish with their own money, such as gamble online and on bet on sports freely in their areas, but United States citizens cannot.

No wonder a record number of U.S. citizens have renounced their citizenship the last couple of years.

I do think the govt. will wake up & smell the coffee (the benefits & profits) some day soon when it comes allowing the U.S. people to have TRUE freedom in spending their money as they wish, such as betting online and on sports abroad...

I don't think it is the gov to blame. Government doesn't exist as a separate entity from 'the people'. Everyone in government came from 'the people'.

Fact of the matter; Americans are very happy dictating what other people can and can't do. VERY few people believe in freedom. 99.9% of people complain they don't have certain freedoms they enjoy, but would gladly vote to restrict the freedoms of others if they themselves do not partake in such activity.

Some people will say: It is outrageous that I can't gamble in my country, yet in the same breath, will say: but it is different for marijuana/cocaine/crack/heroin/prostitution/abortion/assisted suicide/gay marriege/consensual violence/smoking in restaurants/big sugar drinks/driving modified vehicles/eating unpasteurazied lactose products/forming communal cults/zoning laws/civil asset forfeiture/banking restrictions/etc

Unless you believe that all forms of consensual adult interaction done in private property should not be restricted, as disgusting/disturbing or wrong as you might find them, than you are just being a hypocrite. You are saying your little taboo is ok while other taboos are not.

Or, put in the words of the great George Carlin:

How can one thing not be wrong in one city (i.e. Vegas) and not in another? The Brits can gamble and look at their crime rate compared to ours per capita. What Christie in Jersey is/was doing could have a been a breakthrough, but that situation seems like it requires a miracle now.

I totally agree with allowing us to bet on sports matter of fact it's already programmed into the states lottery systems Goberment started this BS way back in 92 banning sports betting in every state exceot nevada. The profits yearly to the country are in the trillions beacsue out of 317million citizens at least 275 million are 18 and over and can bet on sports now think about the money created both ways the new jobs created probably 500,000 for ticket takers the tax money coming back to USA in billions. And figure that at least 60% of 275 million will lose average $10,000 per year baby thats a lot of zeros 000000000000000000000000000000000

I know sniperpicks it stinks... in london england they have betting parlors all over the place and in other cities in England, One state here has NFL betting but you must pick 3 team parlay Down delaware about 45 miles south of PA forgot what town it's in. But they made millions per NFL year in just that one site it's at race track locale. Employs over 1000 people. Now think about in every state just about every city or town where there is lottery stores. OMFG truly the goberment is dumb maybe if we all started E mailing the white house and our state officials spread the word around a few million of us twice weekly banging thier ears might wake them up.

Friend of mines ran figures for Phila pa population 1.7 million using just 700,000 bettors he said with an average loss plus juice of $11,000 for 500,000 would cover the city's deficit plus have some left over ....... with 5,250,000,000 thats 5 billion 2 mill 500,000

there are about 10 cities in usa with populations in the millions LA Chicago Dallas NYC etc... how much is 10 X 5 bill 250 mil?? has to be at least 1 trillion dollars i dunno cant do math that far by hand don't know how maybe someone else here in this forum can run the numbers using population of usa 317 million plus registered figure about 275 million are gambling i'm guessing 65% would lose which equals 178,750,000 X about 11,000 $

= 211.53 per week easyily not even mini wage only 5.27 per hr thats only for 40 hrs 5 days sports is 365 days a year wow now i can break it down by day figure about 56 hrs per week = 295.12 = 42.16 per day ok per year per person it's $15,346.24 median national yearly salary is $35,000 for a family of 3 thats less than half of that amount. wtf is mini wage now $8.25 per hr? And for sure even if others with no knowledge of any sport have way better oods to win $5 than trying to hit a 3 digit number for only $500 Really even with points it's 50% chance I know i have done it just go to my local hand him cash writes it up in his book shows me what i have and i go watch the games get paid next day when i win...
Is this too hard to fathom on national level? Locals could become licensed all odds put up from Vegas in every PC or laptop Teach the ones who are new hires how to take wagers for half times and other bets.

fuck it i'd become a local all money is backed by the state i can take any bet cash upfront.

BUT i dont need that headache i'm good with my job. Somehow someway the word has to be pounded out to goberment dummies like a hammer hitting a large bell in every town in usa :smashf:Slapping-silly90))

Suzie - those figures are interesting. Logic dictates that there is more to this than just finances. The sports leagues came after NJ hard and fast; it is protecting the financial interest of some group(s) (I just do not know off-hand).

In the old days there were theories that gambling was protected, so the bookies can stay in business. That argument cannot hold true today.

TY gentleman capper i belive illegal bookies shoud go by way of death valley or some old search engine that was huge 10 years ago.

truly taking bets over the phone on credit was dumb? And Of course will destroy every gambler in any city.
Lose saturday lose sunday try and double up on MNF to get out and lose again now your down $5500 and you only got $2000 yep your going to be put on list black balled and pay back as a loan with 30% interest which is better than CC companies.
OK imagine that same sceneario X 10 million bettors but all that cash was paid up front.
I have one guy friend who told me about this that's where i got the numbers from.

HE got called by state gov. office when sending out E mail to them about 10 years ago when G W was in office but nothing happend after he was told that he would put it up to be voted on or whatever they do.

I'll ask him for his blog link and post it here it has a form letter to copy and paste and shoot off E mails to every ones own state gov. and to the white house

I think sports leagues are too worried about players fixing scores in the USA , it would turn off a lot of fans if NFL - NBA - MLB were obviously like Vince McMahon predetermined matches

Well sniperpicks there are oodles of forums where they have guys saying all games are fixed so your a lil bit behind the times here!

Any way if they do start fixing games makes it better for us by tracking those players knowing they are going to blow covers

MLB the only thing they could fix would be totals but truly i dont think any team would want to lose a game when in playoff hunt

Fixed, not fixed ... at the end of the day you still need to be on the winning side. I read through that blog post - basically saying the same thing many have already said (do not mean that as a criticism); it seems that it has some merit. Eventually something will have to get done.

I just wish it would come forth.

correcting my name for government should read GOOBERMENT
Well my local is like gold has the cash to handle large hits all wagers paid upfront and we get paid next day after winning.

Thats how it should be this way no one gets hurt all bookies have cash up front ...

Really why is it so hard to just lift that ban? I don't think it would be so hard to teach the ticket takers how to take bets in sports all odds would be shown direct from vegas ....... if a person wants a 3 game parlay or more in bases the puters would show how much they win.

I have no clue how to figure odds when you have ML Dogs and favs mixed in like 4 game parlay in bases.

I do know that a 5 game all DOG parlay hitting pays huge money per $100 Like $6250

I think what people want is fairness. There are casinos in many states. You can bet horse racing across state lines through your computer. All these things used to be illegal.

UPDATE Guys NJ will have sports betting in AC casinos ..........omg i' might be part of the decor down there well NFL season any way

cant go every day because of work ......... but one thing i think they need to do is remove parking fees!

$4 to park plus tolls is like 5 - 6 gals of gas 2.50 on the ac esxpressway 2 X = $5 + $4 parking = $9 then bridge tools going back home $5 = $14

gas wise i can easy get buy with 5 gals and still have some left after coming home

Never take busses cause they drop me off a mile away from home

I like to get in MY car and get out of there fast avoid any thug taking me down.

At least we got heard.

MY buddy is making as many videos on u tube about this as he can using face book and twitter and all other social media sites to post it. It's one thing to be done before he dies he says ........ LOL only 60 now but ya never know how long your going to be here.
