First of all, let me thank you for all that you are providing to our members and posters on the World Cup, particularly those who are new to soccer and wagering on the matches.

I do have a question if you don't mind taking a moment to answer. In your original selections, you were going to pass on Group D but I see you have made selections. As to the upcoming game between Austrialia and Germany, can you give a brief explanation of why you like both Germany and the Under. Are Germany and/or Austrialia shut down defensive teams or are do they play a more wide open style of play. How are their strikers and defenders? Thanks in advance. I read your threads everyday as I only watch and wager on the World Cup every 4 years and don't follow soccer regularly. So far I am 1-0 this year having played Argentina -240 because I felt they were much superior to Nigeria and the 1-0 score is misleading as they had complete control of that game and Messi could have scored a hat trick in that game. Anyway, thanks in advance.

hate using the word 'dude'..but dude i am with you...i don't know why and where all this overnite love fer the aussies has come from....i hear people talking about how they played well in qualies and friendlies???...do some of these people that make these comments actually watch any of these games?....gonna prolly say no to that question...z germanz are for real and not to be taken lightly.....i guess i am gonna have to see what all the fuss is about the overnight sensation that is australia...cuz i don't get it...cheers

We might be the only 3 ppl in the forum that are going for Germany, it just seems like everyone is going for Australia +1 or the draw.
I believe the game will finish 1-0 or 2-0 for Germany. Watched them the other day against Poland and they play very conservative trying not to make many mistakes, but i def believe they will get one or two in.

the friendly coulda also been about trying to not get anyone hurt....obviously i am not in the huddle but one would think they could have put a hurt on them playing all out...cheers

OMT, thanks for the props, im just here to help. I was going to pass up, because it was a couple of days before the start, i didnt know how all the teams would start. now that serbia and ghana played their games, it was easier for me to cap the game between germany and argentina. maybe seems weird, but the motivational factor is very strong in the group stage, an important factor in handicapping games.

the game already started, sorry for the late response. australian coach verbeek is playing very defensively, and trying to lure for that one goal that could be decisive. set pieces are important for the OZ team. against not so strong teams this is possible, but against teams like germany its difficult to play that way. germany is rock solid and tough to play against no matter what. they're a machine, and maybe playing not the most attractive type of game, they're very effective! in the defense they have quality and strenghth, but also have a killer offense. podolski, klose are killers in the front.

they need that win to be number one in their pool. good luck.

well saint, all i can say besides congrats is...the scoring will be coming from the squads we know will....brazil, spain, holland, germany, and possibly the albiceleste....stay with yer unders that don't involve these squads cuz these teams can put on amazing shows without the other team being involved...germany was threating routinely WHILE cahill was still in the game.....cheers

i agree with you my friend, those teams are for real. germany is the best team i've seen thus far in this tourney. strong, solid, fast. think holland will show us some great soccer tomorrow against denmark. germany wanted to show they're this good, and not backing off like f.e. argentina didю

I took Paraguay but all that was available was PICK @ +175. I don't know shit about soccer, its very different to the types of lines I'm used too. i tried to look at pinny's lines to make sure I was getting a good one but their odds on world cup are confusing to me. I hope I got a good line.

Official plays:

Group A

South Africa (PK @2.05) - Mexico

I really cant see South Africa lose the opener at home. Its going to be a boring and low-scoring game as usual, and I can see SA win this one actually.

Uruguay +0.5 @1.80 - France

France is a mess, Uruguay has two killer strikers Suarez and Forlan that could break the French defense up. Les Bleus are in a very bad shape, and even a draw will make us money.

Group B

Greece - South Korea Under 2.5 @1.55

Greece playing with 11 man on their own half, waiting for that one chance to score from a FK or corner. Much stronger than the Koreans, but both teams lack quality to break up defenses. Plus its the first game of them, nobody is going all in. I wouldnt be surprised if it stays 0-0 in this one.

Group C

England @1.5 - USA

England got to start well in their easy group stage against the USA. They have the quality to score goals and even with Rio the defense is capable of shutting out there opponents. The American team is a couple of levels below the English squad, and I dont think they're going to have any problems with the Yanks.

Group D

No plays, want to see how the teams start right here, to get a feel of them.

Group E

Netherlands (1.62) - Denmark

Fast young team that crushed everyone in the last couple of friendlies. Think they're going to win against Denmark, without the usual fireworks, but good enough to bank us the units. Would like to see how their defense plays against the Danish side.

Cameroon (2.15) - Japan

Cameroon is playing on their own continent on this first match against Japan. They're fast and have a killer-striker Eto'o who can decide a match by himself. Also many of his teammates play in the strongest European leagues, so they have the experience to deal with the pressure in big matches. And this is big. Every point counts in this group, because the 2nd spot is available for all the competing teams. Cameroon will start fast, sharp and with a win.

Group F

New Zealand - Slovakia Under 2.5 @1.97

Group G

Ivory Coast (+0,0.5 @2.08) - Portugal

Ivory Coast is my favourite team to go through in Group G besides the obvious fav Brasil. Portugal has some star players, but IC does too. On every position they have a guy that can lead the whole line. If Drogba is fit he's going to make a great duo with Kalou and make big trouble for the Portuguese side.

Group H

No plays, want to get a feel of the teams first.

Thats it for the 1st round boys and girls. Hopefully we can make a fast start, but most important create a feel for a couple of teams, so we can bet for or against them during this tourney. GL on your action and enjoy the matches :toast:

well i can get them at +270 also since you took the pick if there is a draw you will lose. im taking the spread at -130 so if there is a draw i win since they are +.5

I'd guess +100, but you'ld be lucky to do better than -130 now.
Pinnacle has the other side, Italy, at -0.5 +123. You can get
+1/4, though, at about even money.
