White House: Russia investigation is "absurd"; it's "time to move on.

"FBI: We consider the Russia investigation to be "highly significant"

[h=1]1. Senate Intel Committee asked Treasury's Fincen for info about money-laundering. [/h]

The Senate Starts to Look at Trump’s Businessesnewyorker.com

[h=1]2. By definition, the goal of money laundering is to obscure where the money comes from.[/h]
3. If that money came, say, from Russian sources or from criminal activity, the laundering would hide that fact.

4. Before it was on a tax return, it would be "cleaned." It wouldn't show up as "income from Russia or criminals."

5. In last decade, it became much harder to launder money through traditional banks. So, there was a shift to: real estate, esp in NY FL.

6. Casinos. And complex, layered transactions involving holding companies.

7. The question is not what appears as final source of income on tax statement. But who was the original source.

8. We--and most countries--have lousy tools for uncovering original beneficial ownership. But we have one big one: Fincen reports.

9. Fincen reports are, generally, reviewed retrospectively. They pile up until someone--FBI, Treasury--launches an investigation.

10. Then, with some luck, they can be used to construct where money came from, degree of money laundering, and other financial crimes

11. If Senate Intel got to the point where Rs agreed with Ds to ask Fincen for money laundering data, then they must be on to something.

When the full disclosure is finally laid out, the level of unethical behavior will be breathtaking to all but maybe 25% of Americans.

I totally concur, only 1/2 the democrats won't appreciate how unethical and childlike they're behaving, they won't know how they're tearing the country apart

A few good and smart democrats already know, the rest are concerned about stuff like ice cream portions

25% actually think resist resist resist is a winning policy
