Nine teams advanced to Super Regional play with several winner-take-all games left to be played Monday during the NCAA baseball tournament as the road to the College World Series continues. Overall No. 1 seed Wake Forest and 14th-seeded Indiana State arguably impressed most during regional play as the Demon Deacons scored 48 runs over three games while the Sycamores cruised to winning their first home regional in program history.
Coastal Carolina is one of more than a half-dozen teams who won an elimination game Sunday to stay alive. In fact, the Chanticleers won twice and now host Duke Monday for a spot in the next round. National seed Clemson going down to Charlotte prior to the 49ers' loss to Tennessee in the Clemson Regional final may have been the biggest surprise thus far considering the Tigers had won 16 straight games coming into the weekend. Vanderbilt was another surprise host who went down prior to its own regional final.
The College World Series begins Friday, June 16 in Omaha following Super Regionals next weekend.
