Too bad Portland didn't get the top pick...Sam Bowie on the clock. Maybe the Blazers go with Greg Oden?

The 2023 NBA draft lottery is in the books. The Spurs have the rights to the No. 1 overall pick, winning the lottery for the first time since 1997 when they took Tim Duncan with the top selection. Here’s a look at how we think the first 14 picks will play out based on the lottery results.

No. 1 Spurs - Victor Wembanyama, France

No. 2 Hornets - Scoot Henderson, G League Ignite

No. 3 Trail Blazers - Brandon Miller, Alabama

No. 4 Rockets - Ausar Thompson, Overtime Elite

No. 5 Pistons - Jarace Walker, Houston

No. 6 Magic - Amen Thompson, Overtime Elite

No. 7 Pacers - Cam Whitmore, Villanova

No. 8 Wizards - Taylor Hendricks, UCF

No. 9 Jazz - Anthony Black, Arkansas

No. 10 Mavericks - Jordan Hawkins, UConn

No. 11 Magic (via Bulls) - Gradey Dick, Kansas

No. 12 Thunder - Greg Jackson, South Carolina

No. 13 Raptors - Cason Wallace, Kentucky

No. 14 Pelicans - Keyonte George, Baylor

Also shows you exactly how rig this thing is

All five teams stay in the top five you can't tell me not one team outside of the top five couldn't get lucky and move up the odds weren't that much different
Because the most mathematically probable thing happened that makes it rigged ?

Yea I’m sure the NBA is all excited about the biggest prospect since Lebron going to one of the smaller market teams in the NBA

If you want to talk rigged how about the year after shaq went to Orlando the Magic had 1 ball in the hopper the next season back when the lottery was super heavy weighted for the bad teams and they get the #1 pick 2 years in a row and nab Webber

You just validated my point on how it's impossible not one team outside of those top five got pulled to move up LOL

It's important to understand that the lottery rules in regards to those top four to five teams

And I think they punished Detroit who had the best odds and pushed them down to 5th because everyone in the world knew they were blatantly tanking and didn't care what anyone thought about it

If they have no hand in manipulating things, the actual pulling of the balls would be televised live a long time ago instead of after the fact

You do realize there is a representative from each team in the lottery at the time of the drawing don’t you ?

You should look up the process on how the draft lottery works

This is sheriff Joe level of conspiracy you got going on in this thread

My opinion anything new

Many have king believed it's fixed at least rk a certain degree going all the way back to the Patrick Ewing thing

Can you find something that says a representative from each team is behind closed door when they pull the balls?

Because it used to be only a third party company they allowed back there

Actually it makes no sense they would have any team Representatives back there because then they would already know the results and not be surprised as they always are when envelopes are pulled

So the 3rd party company is still there

The representative from each team makes zero sense because why are the teams so surprised, excited, or dejected, as the envelopes are opened

So they are just faking it?!?

Because as the story says the representatives that are in the room are isolated without any kind of communication devices such as phones and are not allowed to leave the building until after the draft is announced publicly . The reps in the building during the drawing are not the same people on the stage during the tv presentation who have no prior knowledge of who won the draft before its announced live

Yeah I was thinking the only way is if they made them leave all mobile devices at the door

lookahead

The San Antonio Spurs won the 2023 NBA Draft Lottery on Tuesday night and will have the ability to add French phenom Victor Wembanyama to their roster for the 2023-24 season. The Spurs were one of three teams with the best odds to win the lottery, the two other teams dropping out of the top 3 in the lottery — the Houston Rockets and Detroit Pistons. Here we’ll take a look at the Spurs depth chart and roster and how Wemby might fit in next season.

2023 Spurs depth chart

PG: Tre Jones (UFA)
SG: Devin Vassell
SF: Keldon Johnson
PF: Jeremy Sochan
C: Victor Wembanyama
Bench: Devonte’ Graham, Doug McDermott, Zach Collins, Khem Birch, Malaki Branham, Charles Bassey, Blake Wesley, Romeo Langford (UFA), Gorgui Dieng (UFA)
The Spurs may have the best young core in the NBA after adding Wembanyama. We saw big development from Johnson, Vassell, Jones and Sochan last season despite the Spurs struggling to string together wins. San Antonio had nine different players start at least 20 games, so injuries and a revolving door or sorts impacted the team.

Wembanyama should line up at center to start given his size at 7-foot-2. It could make sense to shift Wemby to small forward or power forward but that would send Sochan to the bench and second unit. There’s no way the Spurs are paying Johnson $20 million next season to come off the bench. Wembanyama makes more sense as a wing rather than center, similar to how Giannis Antetokounmpo started his career more as a SF/PF before reaching his peak and shifting to center. Wembanyama should offer versatility throughout the starting five.
Jones is a free agent and the Spurs could opt to let him walk and start Branham. San Antonio also has a lot of cap space to play around with and could look to add a veteran guard to bridge the gap until the roster is ready to compete. But really it makes sense to keep Wemby, Johnson, Sochan and Vassell together as starters to develop chemistry and grow together.

San Antonio is the worst place he could have gone. He will become a wasted talent there.

Law of averages at least one of those those teams 6-14 jumps up

No doubt in my mind now that this year was decided manually ahead of time
How does the law of averages dictate that?

The most likely combo of teams to occupy the top 5 spots were those 5 selected, granted in a different order

How is it impossible? Math suggests it's very possible

I also just don't get why the league would decide to pick San Antonio if it was rigged
