TUESDAY
WORLD CUP
Brazil/Italy DRAW +226, 1 unit

Had the play as well ACH. I really thought the Ref shaded toward Brasil most of the game. I would not have called the PK against Italy but no one asked me. And I suppose if I had called it, I would have called one against Brasil with about 7-10 minutes to go when the defender followed through and crushed the Italian attacker and took her out in front of the goal.

I played soccer into my Sophomore year of College. However, I do not understand a lot of calls any longer. I always try to be calm and objective when I invest in any sporting event. However, between VAR and some questionable PK calls it is becoming increasingly more difficult for me to keep investing.

Interested in your opinion on the game and the use of VAR. I did play Japan/England +207 for the DRAW today. Good luck.

My best.

Mosi: I'm not understanding the penalty kick/goaltender-off-the-line calls. Technically the calls are correct. But every goalie does it. If they play by the letter of the law when a knockout game goes to penalty kicks, both goaltenders will be red carded by the end of the match.

THURSDAY
WORLD CUP
USA/Sweden U2.5 +105, 2 units

Record: 203.5-214.5, +46.52

Neither team needs to win, and frankly the way the draw is filling out the second-place team in the group gets a better draw in the knockout stage. I think both teams use a lot of bench players and just try to get through the match without important yellow cards.

I may as well take a chance on the first Champions League matches. First match at 6 a.m. Pacific. This parlay is for regular time only. These two matches, played in Kosovo, are signle matches with the winners to play each other Friday. Both are about -210 to win.

CHAMPS
Parlay: FC Santa Coloma (-209) and KF Feronikeli (-213) to win in regulation +117, 2 units

Record: 206.5-214.5, +53.10

ACH, if you did not see Julie Foudy commenting from France today on Golic & Wingo, I am sure it will be on SportsCenter later. She said the same things about VAR, the offsides by a toe, etcetera. They are taking it too far and it is hurting the games. I do not ever remember seeing 7 minutes of Stoppage Time (although I am sure I have at some point) and believe I have now seen it 3 times in the round of 16. I know twice for certain. With two of the games going almost 9 extra minutes due to other crap in the 7-minute extra time.

The USA will beat France on Friday. The pressure will be enormous for the French. And the best thing the could have happened was the Spaniards playing extremely aggressive, and the Ref letting it happen.

I'll have to find Foudy's comments. Yes, the extra time being added due to VAR is getting excessive. Hopefully they get it under control because one thing I like about soccer is the exact total time the game takes. I know I will be in and out of a soccer match in two hours, three if it goes to a shootout. Now this extra time is stretching a match beyond that two-hour mark. A pain when you're TiVoing matches.

FRIDAY
WORLD CUP
France to win World Cup +430, 2 units
I feel kinda unpatriotic for making this bet, but if France happens to beat the United States today, they will be overwhelming favorites to win the World Cup. This price is too good to pass up.
