If it seems like the favorites are winning at a record pace, well, that’s because the favorites are winning at a record pace. Evan Abrams was so obsessed with this idea on Sunday night that he put together a piece to prove it. Among his findings:

* Favorites are having their best season in more than a decade, covering the spread at a 55.1% clip, which would be the highest mark in the league since 2005.

* Teams that open the betting as a favorite and then subsequently see their line rise before kickoff are 35-32-3 (52.2%) against the closing spread and 20-11-2 (64.5%) in November and December this year.

* Favorites with an above .500 record are 66-53-6 ATS (55.5%) this season, for a ROI of +8.8%, the highest mark for teams like that since 2007.

* The fifteen most-bet games of the season haven't gone much better: 9-5-1 ATS (64.3%).
