Team USA, Great Britain both set team pursuit world records, face off in finals.
Ahead of this afternoon’s team pursuit finals, Team USA’s women started the first round off with a bang. Sarah Hammer, Kelly Catlin, Chloe Dygert, and Jennifer Valente set a world record with a blazing fast time of 4:12.282.
World records only last for so long, however. The reigning women’s team pursuit gold medalists from Great Britain were up in the next heat.
Team GB’s Katie Archibald, Laura Trott, Elinor Barker, and Joanna Rowsell-Shand rode for 4:12.152 – just a hair faster than the Americans.
So now the stage is set for the finals in women’s team pursuit. The Americans will take on the British in the gold medal race – a rematch of the 2012 finals.
