Mr. C, hell my friend, its only July and you rightfully so have posted some Dogs you like. I for one disagree with a couple of those selections. Rather than, thanks, good luck everybody...why not take a stance on why you like your picks.

TheRX CFB is a great 'discussion forum' so why not present your reasons for your picks. I may disagree on some but others agree with your projections. Rather than kiss everyone's ass....present a position for your picks.

Still July but hardankle FB guys want substance................thanks bud.

Thanks for your contribution. Many people in this forum underestimate the value of spotting live dogs. You are not always asking them to win the game, just cover a spread that is possibly inflated due to public perception. Factors such as scheduling (next team up, off a tough game, conference next) always play into the equation. Another factor is VALUE. If you are astute at setting lines/using Power Ratings then you can spot value. Value does not guarantee success, but does lead to a winning % if all other factors are considered equal.

I agree "in general" with much of this post , BUT , when it comes to value and playing large obscure dogs , i dont think betting so early was a good idea. ... @ bol the Miss St game is up to 23 , No Ill up to 21 , and Ga up to 35.

Lots of value lost by being anxious.

Agree. My response here was not about betting these live dogs early, just about finding situations where live dogs at this price range may be viable.

To play them early depends on how one feels the "public" will react to the lines, coupled with where one's own Power Numbers are for each team. Usually the public likes favs, and big ones as well, so you are right, the value can sometimes be later rater than earlier unless you spot a line that seems off.

For me, I have set prelim Power Numbers on each of 91 teams, mostly to handle line value on GOY. CUSA, MAC and Sun Belt ratings will be later. My nearly ready to go PR's will be set in early August (for all teams), with some adjustments made before the end of August.

Fwiw I haven't wagered on my plays yet I just posted early so that others who are interested would know the sides that I will be playing so I haven't lost any value at this time.
