tim, the one piece of data that i always wanted but could never figure out a way to get it easy and a bunch of work

pitcher year of contract

Funny, I was reading up on this not too long ago. If you find a place that has this data, let me know.

Any oldie but goodie:
“Salary Evaluation for Professional Baseball Players,” The American Statistician, 44-1 (1990), p. 39-43.

Rx wouldn't let me attach pdf for whatever reason.

pdf is not an approved format. small txt files are ok. a few years back i had pitcher salary in the data base. that was not as much work, just at the beginning of the year. one web site had them all but nothing came out of it

what you need is

years in bigs
year number in current contract
total number of years in contract

would love to see those patterns vs performance

I'd be interested in as well. I'll snoop around but I doubt I'll look anywhere you haven't already.

One quote from the article:

Detroit Tigers Manager Sparky Anderson was quoted as saying, "Give me 25 players in the last year of their contract, and I'll guarantee you a pennant."

if anyone can read or understand the data they should ask questions or just quit betting sports and listen to any talking head and take there picks

i'm here b4 the opening bell for at least 4 hours per day and have not got one question regarding any of the data etc in almost 25 days

so it must be easy to read and understand as they are still d/l around 50 copies a day

go figure

I haven't gone thru the entire list, however I know that Josh Beckett signed a 4 year extension.
