I believe 60 minutes did a show similar to that. It was about the 900 numbers men would call to. They interviewed some of the ladies (ya right) on the other end. Most were over 50 with a sweet voice. Some even had teeth.

This wasnt anything to do with 900 numbers , it was an odds service just like sports options is now except back then there was no world wide web and the os were in there infancy.
