Preface: I'm a Longhorn.

Body: Just my opinion, but I believe that OSU will replace Tech as the third team in the B12 and we will see a similar situation to last year's debacle, with OU and UT having one loss, but with OSU with two losses this time. The winner of the Red River SHOOTOUT (Fuck those politically correct hippies) will win the B12 south and play probably Colorado or Kansas for the B12 (predict Colorado). They will subsequently win and play in a non-championship BCS bowl this year, because I believe Okie's only loss will be at the end of the season to a two-loss OSU and that will knock them out of the BCS picture.

As much as it pains me to say it, the Red River Shootout will be won by the Sooners this year. Texas will win out besides that one.

CONCLUSION (reg season only):
1. Oklahoma 11-1 (loss to Okie State 11/28)
2. Texas 11-1 (loss to Okie 10/17)
3. OSU 10-2 (losses to Texas and @ Iowa State)
4. Texas Tech 8-4 (L @ Texas, @ Nebraska, @ Okie State and to Okie)
5. Baylor ~5-7
6. Texas A/M ~5-7

Thanks for the write-ups, SoonerBS! Can't wait for September.

Which is it JBLonghorn, that OSU scares the pants off of you when Texas visits Stillwater (Post 8), or Gundy is an idiot and OSU will blow a tire? Your getting so worked up your disputing your own posts. Take it easy son. Your trying way too hard to read something into our posts that really isn't there. All that we're bringing up is potential roadblocks for Texas. It doesn't mean it's going to happen. The very things that could go against Texas can also go against OU. And if you had been here this spring you would have seen that I had many more negative things to say about my Sooners than Texas...I still firmly believe that Texas is the team to beat in the South. Mainly because their overall schedule is easier than OU's. And I have my doubts about OU's O-Line coming together in time to make a run. But all of these teams, whether it be Texas, OU or OSU, are going to run into problems this year. The Big 12 South is no longer a win one game and make a run conference. Just because Texas can beat OU on a neutral field doesn't mean they will beat OSU in Stillwater. If OU should beat Texas, it doesn't necessarily mean they are going to beat Miami, Nebraska, Texas Tech or Kansas on the road. One thing I'm pretty darned sure of, your smoking crack if you think OU, who could have the best defense in the country this season, is going to lose 4 games. You need to take your orange colored glasses off and lay down the pipe if you truely think this..

It's both. The OSU game scares the pants off of me, just as much as the game in Dallas, but I also still think OSU is highly overrated going into this season and it will spell trouble for Gundy. This is just a speculative guess, as is all of our preseason hyperbole.

GoSooners is anti-Texas, much moreso than SoonerBS. Read the posts and this will be obvious. GoSooners doesn't always call a spade a spade with OU.

I haven't ever heard you say a good word about OU either...Our geographical locations preclude any love we have for each other. And believe me, I know SoonerBS, and he hates Texas just as much as the next Okie...It's in our blood. Our parents raised us right.

Damn straight on that!

JB, if you're going to make money at this game, you have to be willing to set aside fanatical biases and see the reality of the situation. I've seen GS fade the Sooners numerous times in order to make money.

BS...A play-on game that could be overlooked is Baylor vs OU the week before OU plays Texas. Now I know that OU took care of business and covered against Baylor last year the week before the Texas game. But the situation is a little different this time.. The Sooners weren't coming back from a grueling road trip to Miami like they will be this year. Baylor will just be coming off a warmup game against Kent State. A perfect sandwich spot for Baylor to get the cover. Starting in October OU will go through a stretch of games where the lines are going to be a little too high, and their not going to be able to cover them all. Games I'm looking at where I don't think the Sooners cover the spread are at Miami (OU will probably be road DD favorites here), Baylor, Nebraska, and Texas Tech. With the exception of Texas, which is a tossup, I believe they have a decent chance to cover the rest. But I will definitely be either betting against OU or leaving the games alone against the teams I mentioned above. Those are potential trouble spots.

That's a mighty bold prediction, considering that ...

1) OU is 60-2 at home under Bob Stoops.

2) In the modern era of college football, the most lopsided series is Oklahoma/Oklahoma State, where the Sooners have a 54-8-1 record.

Actually GoSooners Is

one of the strongest advocates for his fav. tm, yet shows the least bias IMO. As the "other" Sooner said, "those of us that have been in this long enough, realize the dif. between love for the team vs an affinity for $$". No single thing can create a losing season faster than blinders when it comes to our home team vs reality. This is what seperates the winners from the losers. I too like Baylor @ Wake, BUT don't discount Wake's O out of hand. They have Skinner back, a VERY underrated QB IMO, their top 2 RB's, all 5 starters in the OL. There could indeed be some offensive fireworks here. Sooner, agree w/your assessment re. OU D. BUT, no their D will be 2nd fiddle to the Gators, especially in the PD dept. and SP teams! Still I see a NC repeat, OU vs Gators. BOL all yr my friend, less than 40 days now!!!!! My possible "look ahead", early on Houston @ OSU, after the Boys play Ga.! Cougars can score, 80 pts + total?

Silver...How ya been doing my friend? The Houston/OSU game will be interesting from the persepctive of who Houston plays two weeks later. Texas Tech comes to town. If OSU should do a blowout job on Houston then I think we would get a very good line when Tech goes to Houston 2 weeks later. Houston the rested home dogs (bye week) vs a Tech team who just got softened up the week before against the Horns. If Texas beats them like I think they will, I'm thinking TT has a lingering headache coming into that game. As for Baylor, although they are getting some hype and the expectations are a little higher for this team, I'm still going to pick my spots carefully. I still think it's going to take all that Briles can draw out of this team to make them bowl eligible this year. With the exception of Texas A&M, the Big 12 South is tough. Plus Baylor faces Nebraska at home and Mizzou on the road. None of those games are guaranteed victories. I see 5 games which Baylor has a good chance to win. At Wake, UCONN, Northwestern St., at Iowa St. at Texas A&M. Those are 5 games. They'll have to win all of those games without a stumble plus upset one of the big dogs to make it in. That's a pretty tough task in Briles second year.

GS, I've been meaning to remind you that Arkansas and Utah were originally scheduled to play Texas in 2009 but both backed out of signed contracts to play a home and away series. Texas had to scramble just to fill the 2 games, thus getting La Monroe and Wyoming. Doesn't really mean much, except for the fact that people have been giving Texas shit for their schedule this season. Just wanted people to know that these cupcakes weren't scheduled 5 years ago. Now back to your regularly scheduled programming....

Thank you guys for pointing out my bias. I'm working on it. I'd prefer to be taken seriously throughout this season. I can give good insight into some of these teams south of Dallas, as I've got some buddies in a few of these locker rooms.

I thought that Baylor might've given OU a little more game than they ended up doing last year prior to the TX game, but that didn't happen. This year it all depends on what happens in Coral Gables, which I see as a VERY tough game for OU, straight up. Getting double digits on a home dog in Miami is a gift; but I think that's the game that can propel OU to a higher level than TX in Dallas a few weeks later.

Great write-ups...why pay for preseason magazines when we have this at our disposal!!!!!

On a serious note. I think the Big 12 is relatively wide-open with a catch...Obviously Oklahoma, Texas and Okie St are the favorites. I also see Nebraska (although they have a brutal schedule), Texas Tech (some holes to fill) and Baylor (huh?) beig factors. Ultimatley I honestly think that a 1-loss Big 12 team has a shot a the Nat'l title game provded USC or Ohio St doesn't go undefeated (Penn St can go undefeated and be lucky to be in the top 5 with that ridiculous schedule) just as long as the only loss isn;t in the Big 12 title game.

I think Texas plays for the National title (against Georgia)....I can't wait for their game with Oklahoma. Should be another classic.

I've been busy the last couple of weeks, but I think I can get my ACC and PAC 10 reviews out this week.

Hey Soonerdawg!

jb, your ugly ass still around? how you been?

Hey man! Yeah, I'm still around. Just trying to survive this f'd up economy. I'm on the front lines as I'm in real estate. I could be in worse places, as Austin's being buffered a bit; but still, it sucks. No bananas for me lately. You? I've never been more ready for football to start. I guess it gets that way as we get older.

A&M should be fully focused in their opener vs new mexico as they have a bye week and only have to look forward to utah st. i look for the lobo's to really struggle with their new schemes here.

I think New Mexico will really be down this season, too, especially at the start of the season.
