Bears defense is the one to watch here. The personnel is pretty similar to 2006 and in some areas better on paper (though a couple years older). If they can recapture what they had on defense in 2006 then they are a contender. Are Orton and Forte/K Jones worse than Grossman/T Jones & Benson? Not really. It's all about the defense. That said, it may have been a one-game wonder and Indy themselves were just not in sync. But the defense had flashes of '06. Bears went from about 7-1 to 2-1 co-favorites to win the division.

Comes down to the health of Tommie Harris. If he can stay healthy, Bears win 9+ games.

At 1-2

They are who we thought they were.

Yes and no. The record notwithstanding (which will likely be 1-3 next week), the Bears look better than a lot of people thought. IF's aren't worth all that much of course, but the Bears could very easily be sitting at 3-0 right now and the opinion of the team would be different, even without much different play. Still, 2 games are 2 games and they probably cost a shot at the playoffs.

3 in a row at home they can easily win, then one at Houston. Lost control of the division but could still win 9 games.

What do you put the lines at on their next 4? I'd say

CHI -6 vs Jax
NO -2.5 at CHI
pk em vs GB
CHI -3 at HOU

Could see 7-9 or 9-7 just as easily as 8-8 IMO.

After the last fiasco I put bears at an advantage w/ Jax having Mon night game less rest and Bears at home Jax +7'
Bears -3 over NO
Bears +4 over GB
no idea about houston..

Orton's health is going to be a big concern as well for future games

You think Bears will get 4 at home in a revenge game against their biggest rival on MNF?

Respectfully disagree. GB hasn't been world-beaters lately either...

I think Bears will beat NO but will be dogs, personally.

I think they're gonna need more than 4 at home sure.. I dont know what they'll hang for the game.. Green Bay's Rodgers put on a helluva show yesterday in the second half and demolished us at home

I'm no linesmaker, just speculating

Thinking they will NEED 4 and whether they will GET 4 are 2 diff. stories.

I think GB wins that game, but can't see the GB favored at all, much less by 3+...

We shall see. GL on that Orton autograph.

I have a sizable bet on under 8 and this will go right to the last game.

Lines I can see for the remaining games:

Jax +7 (5 Dimes)
NO +4
GB +3
@ Houston - If the Bears cannot make the playoffs, Houston -2, else Bears -3.

You think the bears are favored against NO and GB?

Wow!

At home - yes. Bears are ahead of both in the playoff race. No way a dome team will be favored at Chicago in December. GB has done little since the Bears game in GB.

I can't believe someone thinks New Orleans would be -2.5 in Chicago in December. I wouldn't be surprised if the Bears win out.

I may make that NO+6. Didn't realize that is a Thursday night game. That will be a cold one.
