You guys want to get a real debate going.

Who do you think deserved the 2005 Heisman Trophy?

Bush won it.

But I told all my friends that Vince Young should of won it cause he was the best player in the country. I think the Rose Bowl proved me right. Bush was great, but Young was the best and most unstopable player in the country.

In my opinion.

Vince Young was the best and most dominate college player that I've seen since the Barry Sanders days. The Heisman commitee got it very wrong that year. And this is coming from a Sooners fan who hates the ShortWhornes.

Well I personally think the original King Kong could have kicked Mighty Joe Youngs ass. Godzilla got drafted high because he was high profile but he couldn't hang with some of the Big Lizards on Jurasic Park who were vastly underrated. I think Raptors were the prototype for linebackers.
Guys I just don't get it. Who cares about shit that is not relevent to anything and is so frivilous that you might as well get out the old GI Joe figurines and go at it. Bottom line is that two teams play and one wins, not necessarily the best team overall but the best team on that given day. That is sports in a nutshell. And just for the record, I think that Popeye was overrated and Bluto was more consistent and would have done better in the Pros. In a nutshell who cares. Simply just not worthy of serious discussion.

Finishing off the Paradise argument of Tennessee vs Miami.

He is the one and only person that I have ever heard say that Tennessee was more talented.

I do agree the best team doesn' always win see the NCAA Championship between KU and Memphis.

How do you explain the fact that Tennessee had 3 1st rounders and Miami 16 of that 2001 team.

Willis McGhee and K2, and Sean Taylor are backups on that team.

I would at least give his argument vailidity if anyone else on the planet would agree with him. He reminds me of people that if you told that George Bush was the previous president and Obama is the current President, he would say you are wrong.

Yes, VY was fantastic vs USC, but again if USC gets the 1st down are we even having this discussion?

I don't believe we are. I think everyone is basing it on the game it vs USC. Yes, VY was sick 3K and 1K on his own, but still bush had some brillant games as well.

My point is, if Texas does not win the game against USC, I don't believe there is much of a argument.

On a side note, I think they should get rid of the Heisman. It goes to the best player on a team that is a contender. Michael Crabtree has been the best football player in CFB the past 2 years for my money.

Unless you play, qb or RB, you are not even in the conversation. We already have the 3 heisman finalists for next year determined with Tebow, McCoy and Bradford. They will probably be ranked in the Top as team and maybe USC's next qb or Pryor may emerge as contender.

The entire process is a joke. A guy goes 40/50 with 4 Tds and 400 yards and his team loses so he is out of the race.

There are conversations after the 1st week as to who the front runner is. Give me a break.

I was still in high school in 2001 but I'll tell you this.... if that game were to take place now in a neutral field and was set at PK by Vegas I'll take:

3* UM PK

In other words a very big play for me

Please you couldn't even beat LSU, this is comical

well, heres a quote from a guy who knows a little about football

When asked if Florida had the best defense he'd ever seen:

"When Tennessee had (defensive tackle) John Henderson and that group, they probably had as talented a team as I had seen to that point - defensively as well as offensively," Saban said. "With the receivers they had - (Donte) Stallworth and (Kelley) Washington, I mean they really had a lot of talented guys."

------
again, i never once said TN was better , i said i COULD ARGUE they were. looks like Nick Saban agrees

oh yes they put a lot in the NFL , even more id say , and yeah they had a lot of 1st rounders, but how did they do in the league? they were drafted high because of gaudy college stats vs inferior opponents. a long winning streak made them fashionable picks for GM's etc etc

jason witten was drated at the end of the 3rd rd for example.. haynesworth went like 15th,a lot of the guys above were undrafted free agents even

2002 1st rd picks by team

He didn't play Miami that year and didn't break down film on them.

Did Nick Saban comment on how talented USC's 2008 defense was, no because he didn't play them or study them.

nope, but hes seen a lot of football and if thats the team he names that says a lot and proves my original assertion that one could argue that the 01 vols were the most talented team ever

its really been depressing watching NFL lately with ex-Vols all over the place and no SEC title since 98

From one Tennesseean to another Im with ya Chris. I live up here in JC & were excited as hell about UT & VT. What do you think?
When was the last time UT was a dog & didn't win or cover?
I seriously can't remember. They're not dogs very often & I can remember twice, maybe 3 times under Fulmer they were DD dogs & won SU. They were DD dogs to Fla this year & covered & should have beat BAMA! I think it will be a hell of a game.

hey! haha yeah your right in between VT and UT, thats cool. ive wanted this matchup a lwhile. 94 was cool but VT really got to be a power after that...this very 2001 team was like a 17 pt dog at Florida so i guess the oddsmakers would vote for Miami

im kinda worried, i wish the early enrollees would play, especially Palardy. losing Gran and Wilson aint good, especially playin vs a special teams guru like Beamer.

i love that EB gets to play his last game in Atlanta. i think we will have home a serious home field advantage.

it all boils down to which Crompton shows up. luckily we havent see the shitty one in while. its a must win imo at this stage in the rebuilding,as you know the vols recruit heavily in both the Hampton and Atalanta area..great exposure, it worked out better than the other bowl options after all

players from the 2001 Vols currently in the NFL

Vols:
Jason Witten
Kevin Burnett
Donte Stallworth
Rashad Baker
Julian Battle
Mark Jones
Cosey Coleman
Dustin Colquitt
Omari Hand
Jabari Greer
Abrayo Franklin
Albert Haynesworth
John Henderson
Troy Fleming
Anthony Herrera
Kelly Washington
Andre Lott
Eddie Moore
Rashad Moore
Scott Wells
Eric Parker
Dmetrin Veal

8 years later and 22 from that team are still playing in the NFL, about half of em starters..can Miami say the same ? how else do you judge talent?

by the way ..my statement was "i could argue that the 01 Vols were the best team in america but they didnt win the title" in reponse to a USC fan crying about they missed the BCS title game and one of my stalkers rolled it over into this.

i dont want to argue it, because its POINTLESS. Miami was the NC in '01, its over, end of story, i accept it. (USC fans take notes)

does that mean the Hurricanes were more talented than the Vols? no.

does that mean the 08 Gators were more talented than the 08 Trojans? no

lets narrow it down to "big time" talent

Mcgahee
Davenport
Rolle
Dj Williams
Ed reed
Sean taylor
Portis
Gore
Vilma
Mckinnie
Winslow
Parrish
Shockey

or would you rather have

Jason Witten
Donte Stallworth
Dustin Colquitt
Jabari Greer
Albert Haynesworth
Kelly Washington

your pick. i like group 1

Besides you, why do the facts prove the other way around and why is that not a single other poster is backing up your argument.

Nobody is saying that UT wasn't talented, but why is that eveyone seems to agree except you. At some point and time, you would have at least few non-Tenn fans back you.

back me???

this aint a contest, you just dont seem to comprehend what you read.

you can argue something without standing behind it. can your mind not grasp that ? ive only explained it 6 times in this thread.

heres a better example :
i could argue that the sky is green or the earth is flat

....you must be retarded

Another perfect example of your mental retardation.

I guess you do have an excuse, you live in Tennessee.

I guess you must still be celebrating that Peyton Manning Heisman Trophy win.

No wonder you don't post any picks here, nobody respects you, you are way too stupid.

Tennesse 2001 is better than Miami, I am sure they will eventually vacate the National Title from Miami and give it to Tennesse.

Translation, I'm a homer Tn fan who has no clue, so I'll resort to lame 4th grade insults about peoples typing skills. Really dude, you're making a complete fool of yourself ,and it's not even a subject worth debating.

I'm enjoying the entertainment you're providing though. LMAO
